CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to travel the world to experience different cultures while making new friends along the way.

ABOUT ME

This is always the hard part. I see myself as a friendly and laid back person who likes to travel and meet like-minded people. Things that make me happy: Spending time with friends in the hot sun while sipping on a cold beer, the weightless feeling of free diving, being in the wilderness, riding a motorbike with no particular destination in mind, savouring exotic food, playing guitar or harmonica, photography, swaying in a hammock.

PHILOSOPHY

Practice good karma by being nice to other people. The term "you reap what you sow" is very true to me.

I also believe that people should be able to laugh at themselves and not take life too serious.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've finally finished travelling and slowly finding my feet back in South Africa. At the moment I'm fairly busy but I might be free every now and then for a coffee or to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had three experiences so far - Sonoma, Victoria (BC) and Seattle with the latter being my favourite experience. Our host made us feel welcome right from the start and as an added bonus, an amazing cook as well. He took time to show us (me and my girlfriend at the time) around town while cooking delicious meals. We had a lot in common and we had an amazing couch surfing experience. We didn't want to leave Seattle and it was sorry saying good bye to a new friend.

I just love the outdoors and have a keen interest in rock climbing, wildlife, photography, good food, canoeing/kayaking, camping, skiing, diving, motorbikes, cycling and spending time with friends. I find travelling a good way to meet new people and learning more about different cultures especially when going off the beaten track. Sport is also an interest although I'd rather be a participant than supporter.
