Overview
About Me
Hello! I'm Lesley, a bartender and musician in Durham, NC. I'm originally from West Sussex, in the UK.
I get along with pretty much everyone, and am equally comfortable in a quiet tea room or a loud club. I love the countryside and spending time in nature just as much as I love exploring the big city late at night.
I'm a total night owl and general insomniac. I'm not a big drinker these days, and my wild party days are over, but I will dance on a table and embarrass myself at karaoke with the best of 'em.
You can listen to what I do here if you would like:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet cool peeps :)
I used couch surfing for a trip home to the UK this year, and would like to return the favor.
Interests
Music music music! I'm an electronic musician, so love to talk about production. I am happiest when I'm creating, and loooove art projects and crafty stuff. I'm also an avid reader, and Netflix binge-watcher.
Food (of course), craft beer (current favorite: Baltic porters), and staying up late talking about society, science, and what it all means, man.
When traveling I like to just walk and discover, both out in nature, and in the city. I can spend all day exploring thrift stores and old churches and local watering holes. And bars. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
This changes frequently, but currently listening to: Portishead, Radiohead, Marian Hill, Missy Elliot, Glitch Mob, Coleman Hell, Sylvan Esso, ...I also DJ a bit and studied music in college, so my tastes are all over the place. Barber's Adagio for Strings is still my favorite piece of music (what a sap, eh?)
TV over movies these days (better for bingewatching!): The Detectorists, the Walking Dead, House of Cards, Bob's Burgers, Looper, Portlandia, Monty Python, depressing crime dramas, cerebral scifi etc. Give me a post apocalyptic wasteland or a quirky comedy and I'm happy.
Books: Anything with some good social commentary weaved in there. Sci-fi is often my go to as the writers often go for macro social issues and psychology of mind (Asimov remains a favorite, but more for books like 'The God's Themselves' than the Foundation series). Favorites include : Hyperion, Lonesome Dove, Jane Eyre (pretty sure I am Jane Eyre), the Shipping News, the Saga series, Blindness, Speaker for the Dead, the Bridge of San Luis Rey, many many more I can't bloody think of!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I worked as a white water rafting guide for a summer, so if you fall into any class V rapids while we're hanging out, I've got you covered ;)
Teach, Learn, Share
Ummm.....I can teach you some pretty fly secret handshakes. Also: backslang (the US doesn't have it, they use piglatin -fools!)
What I Can Share with Hosts
My music is a big one. I can perform pretty much anywhere, and LOVE to share my music. Impromptu house concerts are my favorite! I will dazzle you with my coffee brewing skills!
