About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"Maddest of all is to see life as it is and not as it should be."--Man of La Mancha

ABOUT ME

I recently graduated from UNC-CH; majored in Art History and English. Professional interests lie in community based art. Getting ready to start a month long tour of the US with my best friend, all via train! Moving to Winston-Salem, NC for a few months for an internship with their Arts Council after we finish traveling. After that....Lord knows. I am full of conundrums. In the words of the good man Walt Whitman, "Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself! I am large, I contain multitudes." I love to plan details, but I also love to jump at something with the drop of a hat. My close friends call me "Granny." I love kidding around and being able to laugh at any situation, which for better or worse typically involves my own antics.

PHILOSOPHY

-Dream the impossible dream
-Treat every person and stranger you meet with a smile and actually say hello. Especially to the person who bags your groceries.

Music, Movies, and Books

Top picks if these were the only things I could read, listen to, look at, respectively, if stranded on an island:
-Book: Thomas Wolfe, "Look Homeward, Angel"
-Music: Bruce Springsteen, Born to Run
-Artists: Frida Kahlo, "What the Water Gave Me"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This past summer I traveled in Europe for 3 months, mostly by myself. It was the most challenging and rewarding experience I have had thus far in life. Everyday I was astonished by the complexity, vastness, and beauty of our world. It gave me a thirst for traveling. The most amazing aspect was meeting complete strangers and being shown immediate kindness and friendship despite the boundaries of language and nationality. The trip affirmed my faith in humanity. : )

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Southernisms, y'all.
Learn: Strong interest in vernacular speech; quirky local traditions.
Share: Bad puns.
