About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Improve the fabric of humankind. Create connections.

ABOUT ME

Nelson has been our home for three years now and I can't imagine living anywhere else! You are going to love it here.

We are a family of life long learners, environmentalists, avid readers and, generally, just really curious individuals open to any new experience as it crosses our path.

We love music, good food and great conversation.

PHILOSOPHY

Our family is trying to find ways to tread as lightly on the earth as we can. We try to live as low impact on the planet as possible and are interested particularly in learning more about growing our own food and living sustainably in general.

We also come from a homeschooling/unschooling background and are constantly learning and evolving from our diverse life experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We started couchsurfing fairly serendipitously when we were travelling back in 2012 and soon realized that we had found the best method possible for locating the most amazing and generous people in every community we have visited. Once we settled in Nelson, we have hosted an amazing array of travellers and still connect and visit with friends we have made along the couchsurfing path.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We were referred by a friend who had some great experiences couchsurfing in Europe. We're pretty new to the website but we had a great initial experience couchsurfing with a family outside of Portland, Oregon and it just got better as we went.

Interests

Hiking, camping, reading. Storytelling and hearing other people's stories. Transition towns, tumble weed homes and alternate building methods. Organic farming, permaculture and collective living. Building connections in the community.
