About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Patience, dammit.

ABOUT ME

I'm an introverted type (INFJ!) who loves small groups of close-knit friends and newcomers. I co-manage a foster care house for teen girls during the day and study for my Master of Divinity (through the Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, CA) in the evenings. We'll be moving to the Bay Area in next year or two. I see myself moving toward some sort of hybrid interfaith chaplaincy/mental health work in the near future.

PHILOSOPHY

Do meaningful work, have as many animals as you can love and care for, cultivate gratitude.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting, surfing, hosting, surfing ...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our only couchsurfing experience so far was an impromptu overnight in Chaguanas, Trinidad in the home of a gracious Muslim gentleman named "Uncle," the self-proclaimed "oldest biker in Trinidad" who holds the trophy for "longest burnout" ever achieved on the island. He and his motorcycle club (the Toxic Riders!) picked us up by the beach in Blanchicheusse and made us feel more than at home.

That being said, we clearly would like to do more. :)

Interests

brewing kombucha tea, raising our animals to be productive citizens, learning Hebrew, motorcycle rides, good tattoos, tasting new and delicious India Pale Ales and other beers, midwifery, reading/writing, short fiction, literary magazines, rampant herb gardens, swimming holes ...

Jason, on the other hand, has more love for jazz, blues, and funk than I can really explain here.

Books: Shelley Jackson ("The Melancholy of Anatomy"), David Foster Wallace, Jeanette Winterson, Margaret Atwood ... obscure little cookbooks, indian and macrobiotic primers. On my nightstand right now: the Kol Koreh siddur, 500 Hebrew Verbs, and the most recent issue of Glimmer Train. On Jason's nightstand: "The Intention Experiment," several excellent motorcycle magazines.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every birth I've attended as a doula! And hopefully more to come.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always willing to open up our kitchen for some outlandish culinary action with new and exciting folks. Jason has alternative building knowhow/mad scientist skills to share. (Ask him about the Ford F-150 he outfitted with a spatula-based HHO system.)
