ABOUT ME

I am born and raised in Singapore. I have moved to the city Shantou in the province of Guangdong in China in 2020 for more than three years. Next stop for me is USA, I’m moving to the town Erie, Pennsylvania, in March 2024. I’ve been off CS for some time so I’ll be updating this space over the course of my travels. I am in Singapore at the moment, 15th February, for a few weeks I hope. Before I go to China to move my things to USA.

Hopefully this is the year I will be able to go to Burning Man.

I’m a scientist who love philosophy. I have interest in film photography and I’m learning to make my own music as well, not sure how that would turn out but it’s gonna be a lifelong interest. I do research on polymer physics in the realm of rheology. Skipping past explaining the science of it, I am crafting out my research area to work in sustainability and recycling of plastic materials. Our dependency on plastic is not going away anytime soon, so I wish to develop cost effective solutions to recycle post consumer plastic waste into high value materials. In doing so I hope that corporations will see the profits in it or a change in legislation that motivates them to recycle more and modify their chemical compositions for plastic products.

I have a resting bitch face when I'm lost in my thoughts. Do not be fooled by my face, I am easy going and I love conversations. I like meeting people from all over the world because they teach me to see the world in a different perspective. I want to travel and see the world because there are just too many beautiful experience and knowledge waiting for us. Dancing is fun. I wish I could dance all day. I am trying to learn salsa and get better at other dances. If you know ceilidh, I would love to dance it and be reminded of it.

Work can never be finished, so I choose to have fun!
Travel the world, see and experience it for yourself.

HOSTING

Hosting is not possible at the moment until I settle in the next city where I’ll be working at. But I want to keep these instructions for the future. Ahahah.

The few rules I have are:
1) Please be clean.
2) Share with me your stories from travelling and your lives.
3) Have fun during the hosting.
4) Use my codename (bunny) when you send a request so I know you have actually read my profile. At least this bit.

How to increase your chances of getting hosted by me? Send me requests at least two weeks before and not more than two months. I can’t plan whether I will be able to host you or would even be home that far ahead. I understand how some host may cancel at the last minute and therefore I accept last minute requests if I have space and the other surfers don’t mind. If you don’t have any references and you’re new to CS, I usually ask to be added to your Facebook so I can see that you’re a real person. It’s the only basis I have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and getting to know people from other countries. I want to listen to stories about their life, their experiences and views that have made them who they are and at the same time I wish to share my story.
I guess the whole idea of Couchsurfing to me and why I am here is to meet people from different backgrounds and connect with them on a personal level.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not really amazing things I have seen or done but more of a once in a lifetime experience, I hope.

Survived a car crash. The moment when everything is in slow-motion and the adrenaline takes away all the pain you are experiencing and in that moment you think to yourself - is this a dream?

Flight got rerouted to china and eventually cancelled. Thought for a moment that they were some criminal syndicate that was going to sell me for my organs or as slaves. But it turned out alright, they brought us to a hotel that was just far away from the airport. I bunked in with a total stranger. At the end of it I manage to make a new friend out of all this. Pretty awesome.

Walked on the frozen lake of Abisko and caught the northern lights.

Finished a PhD.
