About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living in truth and learning through love.

ABOUT ME

Hey hey!
Welcome, welcome :)
I'm Aaron.
Originally from Sydney, I moved to Melbourne(the city of artists, muso's and nightlife) in 2008 after arriving home from 4yrs in Europe and finding my lot in Sydney to be stagnant and uninteresting.

I'm an easy going Australian guy... chilled in most situations... :) If you wanna meet up, write me a message and perhaps we could go out for coffee or BEEEEER... he he... :)

My work and interests are very closely aligned these days. Throughout my life I've always been a fairly outgoing and gregarious person, organising fun events like CS meetups, free hugs campaigns and parties. But it wasn't until fairly recently that I found I could utilise my natural gifts to help with environmental and social justice issues.
I'm now a trainer and coordinator of environmental campaigners with The Wilderness Society, here in Melbourne, Australia. Some of the campaigns I've been working on include the creation of a new national park in Victoria, defeating BP in their attempts to drill for oil in South Australian waters, continuing the fight against fracking and coal seam gas in Australia and pushing for new and updated environmental laws taking into consideration the new data concerning climate change.

PHILOSOPHY

my personal philosophy??? ummm....

"Carpe Diem"
"Direct is Open is Honest"
"Slow Hands - Warm Heart"
"How life is for you is your own choice"
"Anger is a Gift"
"You may remove your masks, honesty is welcome here..."
"You risk so much not to throw yourself into the abyss"
"True love is being yourself"
"When there is no truth, end the lie."
"Direct is honest is open. I am."
"If not now, when? If not you, who?"
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."
- Mark Twain

Just a few of my favourites.

I believe in speaking the truth... i urge others to live honestly and to be open with their feelings... To live with lies is to take on unnecessary burdens... "It is better to face the bear than to run from it"...
You know deep inside that it all catches up to you in the end anyway...

I feel strongly about the importance of good male role models in the lives of our future generations... So that's what i'm trying to be...

But I really don't want to stop travelling... i want to just go on and meet amazing people forever...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For nearly two years I was a Nomadic Ambassador... I decided to remove my Ambassadorship because I had no time for the responsibilities it entails...

In any case, I still continue to spread the word, organise meetings and just stay active!

Helped make the Melbourne CS Summerfest 09 a grand success! :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I organised meetings and Free Hugs Campaigns through CS all over Europe as I travelled through in the Summer of 2007...

I've hosted some wonderful guests so far too :)

I've been hosted by some truly amazing and inspirational CSer's.

Interests

I am interested in many things...

I enjoy reading and discussing issues such as the upbringing of children, social issues, changing the world, ecological issues, politics, living and speaking your own truth, the special way we love our families(love/hate:)...

I have a passion for partying and like to go out to the pub or out clubbing, even known to head out to karaoke bars for a laugh...

I can party hard but don't like to party all the time...

I love dressing up and making a myself look a fool... who's "totally" cool... he he...

I enjoy clothes in general, yet try to steer clear of cliche style outfits... i make clothing into my own...

I enjoy:

*Discussing environmental issues... always willing to learn more about how we are effecting the Earth and therefore how to help slow, stop and reverse the damage we do... Very willing to discuss these isues with anyone...

*Board games- especially Chess & Connect4(care to challenge me?)

*Music- I enjoy every type of music, as long as it's good he he...

*Sport- Cricket, Fußball, Table-tennis, Hacky-sack... unfortunately better at spectating than playing, I've actually been clinically diagnosed as an "Unco"... he he... though i give it my best... I've just got a new firestick... so anyone that wants to go for a twirl, let me know :D

*Art- Drawing, painting, body-painting... It's in the blood...

*Definitely into photography... Check out some of my pics here if you like...

*Cooking- mainly Thai, Indian, Aussie and good ol' Sunday Roasts... I also am quite excellent at creating "Student Food"(el cheapo)

*Dancing- Free funk, rock, dancehall and groups like Basement Jaxx are my preferred styles to boogie to... But i can dance to anything... if it is GOOD... :p

*Singing- love to sing along to music i know, especially drunkenly... :)

*Festivals- Nothing like partying for days on end...

*Jamming- Sing alongs and drunken warble-ing... good for a laugh...

*Travelling!!!!!! Don't stop 'til you get enough

*Getting drunk with friends! he he...

Music, Movies, and Books

I like films that make me think... or more so the ones that make me feel... the ones that have those moments when the hairs all over your body stand on end... The one's that make me want to get up and do something positive!!! The one's that make me scared for our future and therefore make me act... I generally like all genre's... But not horror films... i think that they are stupid... that they are bad for the soul and feed your fears... Not good for anyone...
A few films i have to mention: Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Harold & Maude, Iraq for Sale, Earthlings, An Inconvenient Truth, What The Bleep Do We Know?, Loose Change, Terrorstorm, The Big Lebowski, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Human Traffic, The Pianist, The Castle, Brazil, Snatch, Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, On the Waterfront, Shrek 1&2, Sexy Beast, Chopper, City of God, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining(the only horror i like), Apocalypse Now, Sin City, Donnie Darko, Fight Club, Sideways, Willow, The Labyrinth, Princess Bride, Magnolia, Dark Crystal, Tarantino's works, Most of Jack Nicholson's, Will Ferrel's, Johnny Depp's, Ewan McGregor's, Ben Stiller's, Robert Deniro's, Al Pacino's and Marlon Brando's films...

Baraka is one of my favourite films...
It instills a quiet peace in me... and made me passionate about our beautiful Earth...

For Tv series... I've enjoyed: Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office(UK), The Royle Family, Deadwood, Full Frontal, Seinfeld, Family Guy, and Scrubs, Breaking Bad, The Tudors, Pacific, Band of Brothers,

Thought to mention my favourite comedians...
Bill Hicks, Al Murray, Pablo Fransisco & Eddie Murphy....

Here are a few of my own tracks :)

I really cannot live without music... one of the reasons i could never work in an office... i NEED music... if i don't hear... i make it...

I personally am more into regular music in general... artists such as: The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Van Morrison, The Police, Crowded House, Tim & Jeff Buckley, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac, Ray LaMontagne, Iron & Wine, Rogue Wave, The Tallest Man on Earth, Feist, Regina Spektor, Newton Faulkner, Loudon Wainwright III, Martha Wainwright, Rufus Wainwright, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendrix, Sublime, Colin Hay, Weezer, Bjork, Jurassic 5, 2Pac, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, George, Bob & Damian Marley, REM, The Cat Empire, Jet, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, The Tea Party, Massive Attack, Everything But the Girl, James Brown, The Avalanches, Tom Waits, Gary Jules, Norah Jones, The Paris Combo, Seeed, The Arctic Monkeys, Something For Kate, Basement Jaxx, Jimmy Eat World, Louis Prima, Professor Longhair, Mad Caddies, Scissor Sisters, Miserli Ahmet, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Matchbox Twenty, Zero 7, Nirvana, Cake, Che Fu, Fat Freddy's Drop, Machine Gun Fellatio, Skunkhour, Cypress Hill, KLF, The Beta Band, Thomas Baz, Thomas Dybdahl, Powderfinger, The Nextmen, 2manydj's, DJ's: Shadow, Cut le Roc, Cut Chemist, NuMark, Format, Jazzy Jeff... yeah... to name a actually... quite a few... haha! and that's not naming a heap of 80's and 90's one hit wonders... :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got out of Australia and seeing what the rest of the world has to offer and what I can offer the rest of the world.

Hitch-hiking, CS Meeting making, Free Hugs Campaigning tour around Europe... 5 months on the road... travelled through 16 countries... couchsurfing the whole way... of course! AWESOME!

Explored old Soviet military bases and bunkers in Eastern Germany...

Studied music performance, music business and events.

Teach, Learn, Share

Not sure about teaching this... but i am very willing to discuss living with a heartful mind... as in living your life and making decisions through both thinking and feeling things through... Speaking and living your truth... Whatever that may be...

I can teach you how to bark like a dog... so it sounds real and other dogs get confused and look around in bewilderment... he he...

I can tell you where to go for great, interesting, hidden places in Berlin... ;)

I can teach harmonic chanting...

I can teach fire-twirling...

I can teach some fun card games... and how to play chess...

I can show you how to give out free hugs... :)

I can teach the secret art of The Foot Dance...
(Shhhhhhhhh!!!)

I can also share a damn good hug :D

I'm currently learning to play the guitar, any help with this would be awesome :D

I'd like to learn to sing harmonies better...
I'd like to learn to use a camera better...
I'd like to dicuss different ways to write songs...
