About Me

Hey there ☺️ im new at the community but I'm really excited about it!

I'm a Brazilian law student pursuing a double degree in a German university. Seems random, i know, but I was born in a German city in Brazil (yes, there is such a thing!) so that I'm used with the language and culture.

My research focuses on international law, and my last article was about women and religious freedom. I have five tattoos: one in honor of my family, one honoring world history, one describing my wanderlust, one composed by Norse runes which define me and what I want to be and other whose meaning is so complicated that I was only able to explain to one friend so far.

I love smiling and, even more, to make people smile - that pretty much sums up what I expect from couchsurfing experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling is not only about sightseeing, is about meeting people. That's the main reason why I'm here. Therefore, I'll only accept you in my place if you read my profile until this point. If you did so, begin your message with "German Beer" and we can arrange the details 🍻

PS.: Couchsurfing is not tinder. If you disagree with this, well... We are not a match.

Interests

My main interest is to travel. As David Mitchell used to say, "If you travel long enough you might even find yourself". Meeting new people, with different thoughts and lifestyles is the way I improve myself, get rid of all prejudices society imposes us and grow mentally and spiritually.

Moreover, I love studying about human rights and international affairs. I read a lot, I party a lot and I smile a lot. I appreciate being in constant contact with the nature - specially with the seaside. I camp, I ride a boat, I trek. I'm also pretty nerdy: marvel and dc are sort of my thing.

Lastly, my family means everything for me. I miss them a lot.

Music, Movies, and Books

When I'm out, I love partying under the sound of electronic music. When I'm by myself, I'm all into musicals (Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis, Wicked and Evita are my favorites!) and chill out music in general.

I love historical and sci-fi movies the most, but I basically enjoy watching anything. I spend more time than I should watching Tv Shows. My current watching list is ridiculously huge: Game of Thrones, Quantico, Agents of Shield, Mr. robot, Modern Family, How to get away with murder, Orphan Black, Daredevil, House of Cards, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, 2 Broke Girls, and last, but not least, VIKINGS.

I used to watch Battlestar Galactica, Lost, Lie to Me, Marco Polo, Rome, Big Bang Theory, Homeland, Orange is the New Black, Suits, Bowjack Horseman, Borgias, the Good Wife, Agent Carter, Sense 8... I know what you are thinking: "wow, get a life". Yea. I get that a lot. 😜

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2015, my best friend and me took part on the Nelson Mandela Moot Court Competition at the UN Headquarters.

I don't know if you ever heard about mooting, but it's a competition in which we stand before a board of judges and defend our client, which can be either an hypothetical state or victim of human rights violation. Even though the characters are hypothetical, we only deal with pressing issues of the current state of international affairs (last year I won with a new a new theory on refugee protection, for example).

I wasn't expected to win. The competition is in English and it is very rare to see non-native speakers in the final. Nevertheless, after months of restless work we managed to beat Yale Law School and become the new world champions. It was an honor to represent my country - and it was the best day of my life so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak fluently Portugese, German, and English, and my Spanish is understandable. I'm learning French and I used to take Dutch classes. I used to be a Portugese teacher and could obviously teach you some basics.

I've been studying different religions and mythologies for years as a hobbie, as well as architecture and history. I love showing people the places I love the most: looking at them appreciating what I love makes me feel like I'm there for the first time again.
