About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Do what we love, and love what we do!

ABOUT ME

We are Val, Tim and our dog Lewis.

End 2012 we sold almost everything we had and bought the necessary camping gear to be able to live almost anywhere in the world. On the 17th of September we shut the door behind us and slowly walked our way out of our home country, Belgium. Armed with our stuffed backpacks we have been wandering the world ever since with the sole purpose of self development and the search for a place to call home. On our website, www.letsbenomads.com, we’ll keep you updated on our progress and show you how we are living as modern Nomads, traveling the world on a 9 euro-a-day budget.

Why 9 euros a day?

Because it is more than enough to live a comfortable life.
Because it makes us appreciate the things we take for granted so much more.
Because it enables us to travel for a very long time.
Because it makes us travel in a different way; wherever we go, we need to get in touch with local people and ask them for help and this creates a real travel experience.

What makes us modern Nomads?

We travel the world, love our tent and backpack, enjoy a simple life and try to have a minimal impact on this planet. At the same time we want to be a part of the human evolution which keeps amazing us with brilliant inventions like the iPad mini, TEDtalks, lightweight camping gear, Instagram, Blablacar or the ultimate traveling network – Couchsurfing. We don’t want to return to the stone age, although in some cases that might not be so bad, but instead we feel that we should use these new technologies to our advantage.

The art of traveling.

Living on a 9 euro-a-day budget is not possible without asking for help and trusting the world. We call it the art of traveling. We share what we value most in life: love, positivity, dreams, experiences and knowledge. And in return locals, friends and fellow travelers give us what they can offer: a bed, a ride, a free meal or just some good company. These people are not just a part of our story, they are creating it together with us. Although we still have no clue of the duration of this part of our lives, we do know one thing for sure: we love what we are doing with our lives and hope you are doing the same.

Thanks to everyone we have met and will meet for making our nomadic life possible!
