CURRENT MISSION

i have lived in 72 different places in my life and always look forward to the wind in my hair, the exhilaration of the new, and the intensity of the relationships with fellow travellers. i grew up in israel and so have a strong sense of hospitality.

ABOUT ME

extremely friendly and affable; used to be a big partier but those days are past since i became a responsible single mother. i have a beautiful 18-year old son, who is both the light of my life and the bane of my existence. we like to travel together; max is much more observant than i and makes connections i would otherwise miss; also, he's up for pretty much anything, extremely open, and thus a great companion. we'd love to meet others like us, and by this i mean not merely superficially so, but kindred souls of any age, affiliation, nationality--though obama supporters would be nice.

PHILOSOPHY

not every light is green. i've experienced an incredible number of challenges in my life, and simply refuse to be overwhelmed by them. i'm not really the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed rabid squirrel type, but i try to do as much as possible to stay calm and positive and on the right track.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

we live in elk grove, about 7 minutes away from sacramento. That said, public transportation is a hassle, so you're a bit better off if you have a car.

there's loads to do here: music, shopping, hiking, swimming, the most amazing museums and restaurants. come enjoy them with us! we love to live life to its fullest, and we welcome guests who are open and respectful and mindful of the old adage about fish.

If you can't show up, no problem--but do shoot me a text. A lot of surfers have been slacking on this lately, and it's inconsiderate. Don't spoil this great experience for others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been a CS member for 13 years and love it. Loads of friends all over the world have put me up--i've returned the favor for people from all over america, australia, israel, and virtually every country in europe.

Interests

writing, reading, the sunday NY times, legos, hot wheels, thought-provoking movies, musical eclectica, the simpsons, cats, books, good scents, books, delicious food, meeting new people. did i mention books? to paraphrase zappa re. cigarettes: "i don't smoke these. i eat them."

hmmm. tom waits, elvis costello, prince, joni mitchell, margaret atwood, hunter s. thompson, tobias wolff, thelma & louise, down by law, all those weird meta-flix that have been popping up lately like i () huckabees, eternal sunshine, stranger than fiction--stuff that fiddles with your box without taking you too uncomfortably far outside it. i'm a completely indiscriminate film freek. i watch everything. i've seen it all. people complain of it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

easy--raising my son. i'm far from being any sort of glossily perfect mother, and i screw up a lot, but we love each other to the point of obsession and keep an open mind to each other's needs and desires. it's amazing to have someone so much like yourself and be forced to reconcile yourself to his not being precisely the same person. it sounds small, but it isn't--just subtle. i think i'm doing a good job, if only in my being able to stand back and allow him and make it possible for him to raise himself. he knows what he wants. i just make sure he can attain it.

golly. i'm an artist and a writer, i speak several languages with varying degrees of fluency, i'm one of the best and most hard-core masseuses you will ever encounter, a great cook, a relentless crossword-solver and a noble spirit. i love to learn as much as i love to teach.
