ABOUT ME

I'm an idealist, a scientist and a generalist. I love having friends around, but also enjoy being on my own. I love to travel, but also love being at home. I can talk for hours, or be quiet and just sit and listen, or think, or work or read. I help people. I teach. I simulate mice and ducks. I have an insatiable curiosity for finding out how things work. And I love to share that with others. I just wish I had more time. Can you believe it? ;-)

PHILOSOPHY

Live, learn, be yourself, and respect others. Experience life, the universe and everything, because quite possibly you only get to do it once.

I like to share ideas, experiences, enthusiasm, and oh my couch as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I have mostly hosted, which I generally enjoy and which resulted in a few valuable new friendships. I also had nice surfing-experiences in Portugal, England, Italy, Belgium and Ukraine, and I occasionally attend CouchSurfing meetings in cities where I happen to be.

Interests

Lots of things interest me. What mostly keeps me busy though is complexity science and sustainable development. Other than that, I love photography, travel (well, perhaps not travel as such but being in new places), climbing, talking over a drink, history, sitting in the park, walking, reading, listening to music, writing, moments of understanding, and coming up with new ideas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting on the water's edge in Sri Lanka at dusk, watching thousands of bats fly overhead. Mountain-climbing in Austria. Sleeping on top a volcano in Armenia, with a clear view over the capital below and Ararat in the distance.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk (and listen) for hours on subjects related to biology, sustainability, complexity, history and science in general. I'd love to learn more on these subjects, as well as on philosophy, art and (almost) any subject really. I'm a food and cooking enthusiast, especially when it comes to Asian food, and I love to learn about the regional dishes of others.
