Overview
About Me
I'm an easy-going guy who loves to travel. After leaving my job in London I'm now travelling through South and Central America with my girlfriend Andrea. I've been living in London for the past 5 years and spend the majority of my time in the city exploring new areas on my bicycle.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Essentially to meet people from all backgrounds and different ways of life. To enhance my travelling experience through the help of a host. It's also a really cool way to get acquainted with a new city or country.
I've always been curious about the couch surfing community and how it works especially after hearing so many positive stories over the years. I've also discovered that when you return home after a trip you soon realise it's the people you meet, not the sights you've seen, that sculpt your experience.
Interests
I spend a lot of my time listening to music. I try to go to as many gigs as possible on my London budget. I'm also teaching myself (very slowly) how to play the guitar. I've hit a bit of a wall recently, I still haven't learnt a single song all the way through.
I enjoy learning the history of the places I visit. My iPad always has an open Wikipedia tab. Ironically I'm more interested in the subject now then when I studied it at degree level. Museums are often pushed to the top of my sightseeing agenda.
I cycle everywhere in London, whether it's the daily commute or spending the weekends exploring new areas. I love the freedom cycling gives you and after meeting some inspiring cyclists in South America I hope to do some long distance trips in the near future.
I'm a big fan of football and follow the mighty Tottenham Hotspur. It's a passion I try to incorporate when travelling. I've dragged my girlfriend to many a match, most recently an outing to see Chilean giants Colo Colo.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of different acts and genres but recently I've been listening to a lot of post-rock bands such as Mogwai and Russian Circles. After being blown away by the film Whiplash a few years ago I've also delved into the world of Jazz, especially John Coltrane and Miles Davis. I'm always searching for new bands and I attend as many gigs as my monthly budget allows.
I'm a bit of a film nerd. I'm a big fan of the Coen Brothers and anything Studio Ghibli. I love a good documentary too.
Books are, ashamedly, my weakest subject. I tend to dabble in graphic novels. I do possess quite a few travel oriented titles which help to inspire future plans. From Lonely Planets to The Motorcycle Diaries.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During my first solo trip I travelled to Vietnam where I bought , and learnt how to ride, a motorbike in the bustling old capital of Ho Chi Minh. I managed to ride my Chinese knock-off Honda Win all the way to the north, and cross into Laos. It wouldn't have been possible without the help of some very talented mechanics along the way. I ended up giving the bike away in Vientiane to a fellow traveller to continue the bikes odyssey of Asia. Not a day goes by that I don't think of that beautiful heap of junk. The Win is out there somewhere!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm currently trying to learn Spanish, which for a Brit, is a bit of a struggle, but I'm trying.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A mean spaghetti bolognese. Hopefully share some experiences and travel stories.
