About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people to show around (Glasgow or possibly even Edinburgh too) and who can show me about their area from a locals perspective.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy a little bit of everything but I'm really into all sorts of electronic and dance music which include some of (not all) the electronic and dance music I listen to such as minimal techno, ambient techno or harder stuff like industrial. I also like everything that came from UK garage morphing into dubstep and then grime as well as stuff more suited to headphones like ambient or IDM. I also love the cheesy stuff like Italo-Disco or more traditional disco (Bee Gees definitely the peak of the genre) while also enjoying more guitar based stuff such as folk, indie/alternative rock, post-punk, punk, psychedelic rock, metal (ie. black metal, sludge metal and technical metal). I don't know as much about jazz, classical or reggae so anybody that can teach me around those would be great and I can impart my knowledge of my favourite genres. I enjoy going to gigs and music festivals, have recently bought a record player and beginning to learn to DJ.

The Big Lebowski and Trainspotting are my favourite films but film is something I'm only beginning to take seriously so I'm sure this could change. I've watched a lot of good films recently with Climax, All These Sleeps Nights, Kids, The Lobster and Cube being some of my favourites. I'm typically open-minded with films and like to watch a wide variety and I'm also up for film-related discussions.

I like all sorts of books but I'm recently becoming more interested in non-fiction as I enjoy learning about lots of different subjects. I read Education by recently and it's lead me on a path to becoming interested in education and how it has affected me as well as being more critical of the education (and the importance we place on it) given to the future generations, both in school and more education more broadly. I also really enjoy fiction with the dystopian 'trilogy' of Fahrenheit 451, 1984 and Brave New World being really interesting when read together as they all tackle very real problems which we are now facing today as well as discussing other important issues such as education (Brave New World) and language (1984). My favourite author is probably Aldous Huxley although I've only really been reading consistently since last September so it's too early to say but I'm trying to maintain an hour or so of reading every day so will hopefully have a better idea of my favourites in the near future. In general I like talking about books whether it's discussing books that we've both read or sharing recommendations and knowledge from them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once slept for 20 hours straight.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach everything, learn everything, share (almost) everything

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like traditional cooking as much as experimenting with weird flavour combinations so whether its trying to cook your national dish or testing out my food creations on you I'd love to hear your feedback on my food as I want to open a cafe one day so it's useful information! I can hopefully share some interesting (and possibly even funny) experiences in my lifes as well as some fun discussions and of course lots of song sharing. I also like a good party now and again (if the musics good).
