ABOUT ME

I am the youngest of three children. I have two older brothers who I am very close to. I am currently studying Health Education & Behavior at the University of Florida and aspire to attend nursing school. I love dogs! I have always lived in a house with at least two dogs and have owned 6 dogs in my lifetime. My favorite breed is a German Shepherd and can't wait to own another once I am settled down with a steady career. I absolutely love traveling and meeting new people while having wonderful adventures. I would love to live abroad once I am finished with school and have my final degree. I am pretty sarcastic so I enjoy being around witty people who joke around as well :).

PHILOSOPHY

I was raised on southern principles so I always leave a home at least as clean as I came into it, if not cleaner. I think that as a guest of someone else's home you should be extremely respectful and show your appreciation of their hospitality. I also believe that you should treat people the way you would want to be treated. One should always treat others with dignity and respect essentially :).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would be completely willing to host a surfer but I am not sure if anyone would be interested in visiting Gainesville. It is a town that was built around a university so it really is great for students but it wouldn't be a place foreigners would visit unless they were studying abroad I would think. The good thing is that it is about 2 hours away from Tampa and Saint Augustine, 3 from Clearwater, and 1.5 from Jacksonville, all more touristy locations. I do hope to couchsurf abroad myself though :).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of movies. I want to start watching the list of films that have won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Some of my favorite films are Garden State, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, A Night at the Roxbury, and 500 Days of Summer. One of my favorite books is 1984. I'm a big fan of all music, not so keen on country though. I really enjoy indie music as well. Some of my favorite artists are Bon Iver, Macklemore, Mumford and Sons, Modest Mouse, and Coldplay.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I graduated from high school I traveled to London, Paris, Rome, and Monte Carlo and that was such an incredible experience. It was my first time outside the U.S. and it fostered my desire to see the world. Since then I have traveled throughout Ireland to Dublin, Galway, Derry/Londonderry, Belfast, and Portballintrae. I feel so blessed to have seen some of the most breathtaking natural scenery in this world.

Aside from that, I volunteer at Shands Children's Hospital in Gainesville, Florida with a program called Streetlight. It is a palliative care peer support program for teenagers living with chronic illnesses such as Sickle Cell, Cancer, and Cystic Fibrosis. Through this program I have met some of the most inspiring individuals and this has affirmed that I am pursuing the right career as a pediatric nurse practitioner.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've taken 7 years of French classes from middle school to my first year in college. I love languages and culture so I love to learn about both of those wherever I go. I also would love to learn how to cook different dishes from around the world.
