ABOUT ME

It might be cliche, but Peace, Love, and Happiness are the three things that I strive for in life. I think that it's important to be at peace with oneself and at peace with the outside world; I think that it's important to love oneself and to love others; and I think that it's important to find happiness for all of my fellow humans.

I love to travel mostly because I love people; I grew up in a town where almost everybody is exactly the same. It took me a while to realize that there is an entire world out there, filled with people completely different than myself, who are amazing and beautiful and flawed and perfect all at once. When I realized that, I felt the urge to meet each one, but not just to meet them add them on Facebook and forget about them again, I really want to KNOW each and every one of the 6 billion people in this world of ours. I know it's an unrealistic goal, but hey, I might as well start trying now ;).

I'm a nerd by upbringing and at heart, so I tend to bring my books and my nerdiness around with me whenever I travel. On the other hand, I am also a moderate extrovert, which means that I'll drop the books at a moments notice to go adventure with friends and strangers. But even if I drop my books, I will never drop my nerdiness, so expect that from me.

PHILOSOPHY

All of it? The whole thing? The entire philosophy? Right in here? This little box? Summarized as words? In text? On this website? I don't know if that's possible...

I guess you should try to figure it out from the rest of my page?

Music, Movies, and Books

Just going to put in three of each, because if I listed each one it would be WAY overkill.

Musical Artists: The M Machine, The Glitch Mob, The Beatles

Movies: Fight Club, John Dies at the End, Across the Universe

Books: Snow Crash, Simulacra and Simulation, Down and Out in Paris and London

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have stood up in front of a room full of people and, with two minutes preparation, given a five minute speech that left everybody in the room laughing so hard that they cried.

Teach, Learn, Share

People are irrational. That doesn't mean that they're stupid, or unexplainable, or particularly strange, but it does mean that you don't make the decisions for the reasons that you think that you do. Human beings are prone to committing the Sunken Costs fallacy, we tend to cherry-pick information to re-affirm our pre-existing beliefs, and we tend to forget just how fallible we are.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories from the road, random tidbits of knowledge, and I can help you improve your English! I study political science and statistics, so I have a pretty broad range of knowledge academically.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, China, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Russian Federation, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United States
