About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Cure my wanderlust/visit my eastern roots/build a tiny allotment on my window sill/make people smile.. the list is pretty vast

ABOUT ME

I'm Leyla and I'd like to travel to all manner of exciting places, Student/aspiring writer and wanderer. I like meeting people who want to change the world, old bookshops, cups of tea, getting involved in all things political/social activisty, cooking huuuuuge veggie curries and turkish-arbic meals, abandoned buildings and playing the ukulele badly (this list is pretty expansive) frequently described as a bit space cadet.

PHILOSOPHY

'We're all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up at the stars'

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A little bit new to this, but I'm happy to have people to stay or to meet up for a pint or an adventure, always up for showing off my bizzare yet wonderful city and the peak distirct.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with some wonderful people, and I live in a house where we've often got people staying. I was inspired to host people after having nowhere to stay in Berlin, and being offered somewhere to stay and a lovely evening and great conversation by people I met outside a pub, so guess I'm returning the favor.

Interests

making/creating/growing things, feminism, new wave cinema, politics and current affairs, learning languages, getting utterly and completely lost in books, finding alternatives to and meeting people interested in alternatives to a corrupt capitalist system, poetry slams, live music, delving into my mongrel-esque heritige, obscure avenues of history, all things circus related, getting out into the peak district and other lovely bits of greenery.

Music, Movies, and Books

Errrm de derrrm, everything from turkish rap, to ethiopian jazz and australian ska with a large ammount of bob dylan and electro somewhere in the middle. Can I answer books by saying books in GENERAL? currently reading the diary of anis nin, moby dick and a hundred years of solitude all a bit sporadically, very bad at films, both remembering the names of and paying attention to errrrhmmm, the edge of heaven is probably the best film i've ever seen, radio on, anything truffault-esque,things that make you want to change the world, or just very happy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've read about lots of amazing things, I want to teach in Kurdistan and volunteer with the international solidarity movement in Palastine.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell stories, juggle, and cook really good noodles.

Countries I’ve Visited
