I am:
A dual Dutch/American citizen.
Grew up in Washington, DC and Maputo, Mozambique.
Vegetarian. (Very seriously, non-proselytizing.)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I tried to spend a summer couchsurfing in Portland, OR, USA, after college, among friends and acquaintances. I broke down and rented a room, though, when it became clear that some four of the 10 couches available to me were the same university housing couches and Too Short, resulting in Very Bad Sleep. It was a gorgeous plan, however, to live out of a backpack among friends for a few months. I like hostels and unconventional sleeping spaces, though, and have been prepared to sleep just about anywhere for some years now...just not as well as I used to.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I once spent three days completely by myself on an island in a forest in northern Ontario, Canada, living off of dry food and sleeping under a tarp.

I fancy myself quite the vegetarian gourmet chef, and will gladly share everything I know about making tasty soups, and stunning vegetables. I'm also a history and architecture geek; I'll do my research and then be more than overjoyed to lecture you on the city around you.
