Overview
About Me
I'M VERY TALKATIVE. That being said, let me introduce myself properly: My name is Luis Fernando Fontoura de Oliveira e Cosentino (which is a pain to write out in small spaces), and I'm a Brazilian living in the southernmost state of this tropical nation¹.
Although currently engaged in a Physics undergraduate course, my interests are several and greatly varied. Among them, let me emphasize cooking, drinking (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, though I favour the former), photography, science&tech in general, music (of all sorts, and I'd be glad to show you stuff from my country), language learning, memes, and travelling². As pedantic as it might sound, bon vivant and polymath might be applicable to describe me, to a minor extent.
¹ it happens to be kind of cold here in my region; it doesn't feel tropical at all;
² and as you might have noticed, I'm Team Oxford Comma. GO OXFORD COMMA!.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travelling with my family was always dull. Mostly because they'd travel with a company that made everything artificial: restaurants aimed at travelers, hotel rooms, and guided tours. We'd miss the most important: the local culture and the reality of the city we were in.
Therefore, I'm here to meet locals and to talk to them. Get to know their favourite places, what they usually eat, what's their leisure, which bookstores they go to, what are the customs regarding daily life, etc. I want to bond to people, not to the sole sight around town.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite songs cover a lot of ground: I love jazz, pop music, an easygoing rock (though I've been a metalhead myself, in the past), classical music, rap, a plethora of indie music, and several more. Favourite artists:
Caetano Veloso
Childish Gambino
Glass Animals
Astor Piazzolla
As for the films, I don't watch much, but I'd like to highlight Central do Brasil, Hotel Rwanda, Cidade de Deus, Persepolis and Spirited Away.
My favourite books span old classics (such as The Phantom of Opera, Faust, and Dom Quixote), modern ones (I strongly recommend: One Hundred Years of Solitude [by García Marques] and Seeing [by Saramago]), japanese literature (Mishima and Soseki, mostly), and Brazilian literature.
If you'd like to know more about my tastes or get recommendations of Brazilian commodities (aside from our soy, oranges and meat), let me know via a message, and I'll gladly hit you with some baffling, astonishing, appalling content.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Gave up med school (that my family wanted me to go to) in order to follow my dreams: a lifetime of poverty and celibacy as a physicist.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you:
Portuguese (which structures itself almost like Spanish, although the phonetics might be troubling);
Physics and mathematics;
A thing or two about cooking;
Some deep insights into Brazilian culture, history, and politics;
Random digressions on a wide variety of subjects, such as arts and science.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd love to share some stories, go sightseeing or cook you something nice (whether from my country or yours! I take it as a challenge) while Couchsurfing at yours. If it ain't possible (due to schedule conflicts), let me know so I can fix you a present or a kind letter of appreciation.
If you're into memes and random internet culture, I'd love to share my curated content - far from being humble, it's a splendid catalogue.
