About Me

**New Review!**

"Luke watched over our pup (Zach) for a long weekend while we were away. We came home to a worn out dog, thanks to Luke taking him for long walks. He did such a great job! Zach seemed perfectly content and Luke was kind enough to send us updates each day with pictures of Zach enjoying life. I would definitely recommend Luke to watch anyone's pets. He not only takes care of your pet and enjoys the time spent with them, but he's considerate of your space and keeps things tidy. Thanks again, Luke! Happy travels!"

About Me:

Hello! My name is Luke and I am an American from Colorado. I'm a non-smoker and don't take any drugs. I enjoy meditation, yoga and self development, as well as an ultralight/minimalist lifestyle. My day job is writing music from my laptop for music libraries, and working with an animal buddy around makes all the difference.

Here you can view photo albums of my resent pet sits:

I am also available on these websites for further reviews:

My Methods:

I typically send a daily email or SMS with a photo and description of the day. Video chat is also available. My Skype username is "lhamiltonkeys". Any questions or concerns during a house sit are sent as they arise. Keeping the water full and food schedules are always taken care of, and of course treats. I take walks or hikes in and around my work schedule and am always able to make time for play. The wonderful benefit of working online!

Here is the online form that I made for owner's to fill out with their information for me to use. I keep this information so that nothing is forgotten!

Everything I have fits in a backpack, so through trial and error I have become a more organized person. This way I minimize the chances of losing anything during my travels. Organization has spread to other aspects in my life, so I hardly make any messes. Before leaving a house sit, I clean up my living space and wash and fold my bedding the day I leave.

My Experience with Dogs:

Growing up, my family always had furry companions. The only thing I wish I could do in my travels is bring a friend with me wherever I go. I have house sat with dogs before and always make a new friend. Here is a youtube video I made when I returned a 2nd time to watch a border collie named Flynn.

My Experience with Cats:

I have never had my own cat, but I have cared for other people's cats before and lived with them (three cats was the most). I enjoy their company, petting them in my lap, playing with them or just leaving them to themselves when they want.

My Experience with Horses:

When I was little my family had a horse, and being a Colorado native there were many times I spent riding them. Feeding them carrots by hand was my favorite. I also spent some time in Ukraine brushing and feeding a stable of horses.

My Experience with Reptiles & Fish:

One day my sister decided to get a tortoise, and we learned all about its feeding habits and cleaning its habitat. We also had a betta fish to feed and maintain its tank.

My Experience with Plants:

For 6 years I worked at a golf course cutting grass and maintaining walkways. I also worked for a ski resort planting flowers. In Israel, Portugal and Spain, I volunteered on farms planting and weeding different crops. While living in Ukraine, I maintained (saved) the health of two houseplants.

Why I Want to Housesit:

I really enjoy the company of a pet as I can't bring my own buddy with me while traveling. Animals are the best and I understand how hard it is to say goodbye to them when they don't know if you are coming back or not. Seeing new places and creating bonds with people of all parts of the earth is one of the best things a person can do. House sitting allows me to work in a comfortable environment with furry companions, while still being able to experience new places in this world.

What I Bring to the Assignment / Relevant Experience:

Since February 2013, I've spent much of my life living out of my backpack. Long-term travel has taught me self-sufficiency as well as hard working skills from WWOOF and Workaway volunteering programs in different countries. Some of these countries I knew friends and some I didn't know anyone at all, developing my self-sufficiency and communication skills. My previous employment includes golf course maintenance/gardening (plant care), computer repair (keeping clients informed) and tourism (customer care).

My sister and my extended family own pet care businesses and for six months I got to help out in their homes filled with numerous dogs, cats, birds, betta fish, tortoises, and turtles. I am very comfortable around animals.

My Reviews:

"Luke housesitting and petsitting abilities were fantastic. Firstly, we had Luke stay with us for a couple of days before the sit to show the ropes and we left feeling totally at ease. Further to that we had regular updates on our pets which let us know everything was ok. It's great to have a true animal lover look after you beloved pets and a bonus to have someone tidy and conscientious. I hope to use Luke's services again in the future and feel like he was one of the family. We couldn't be happier with our choice and have recommended him already to friends. Thanks Luke!"

"We have had the pleasure and the luck of having Luke look after our home and our dog, Zulu for a Thursday - Sunday in Nov 2015. My husband met Luke briefly before we confirmed the sit and he immediately said what a warm, likeable man Luke is. He was right! Luke kindly arrived a day before the sit began and immediately put our minds at rest when we saw how he interacted with our dog and how at ease WE felt to have him in our home. Throughout our time away he sent text messages updates - and even a picture or 2. This was fantastic for me - as our dog is, (by my own admission) my "fur-kid" . It's little touches like this - and the fact that our home was spotlessly kept whilst away - that mean we would ENCOURAGE anyone to use Luke as a sitter. He is - the best! We - and our hound - enjoyed having Luke to stay so much that we've said if ever he needs a bed to crash on for a few nights between shifts he's always welcome to stop by at shortest notice. Seriously folk - BOOK THIS MAN FOR YOUR SIT - you'll be glad you did!"

"Luke was an impeccable house and dog sitter for our 2 miniature schnauzers, Henry 10 and Jasper 1. He was particularly perceptive when it came to our older dog who is slowing down. Luke was respectful of our home and left everything very clean and tidy. He is a lovely person to have around - we overlapped at the beginning and end of our holiday. I would have no hesitation in recommending Luke to anyone who has house or pet sitting needs. He is a totally reliable person staying in touch both before and during our break."

"Luke came to house sit and look after our border collie Monty for a week. Luke is a personable and friendly fellow who was soon Monty's best friend. He communicated with us every day with photos and looked after the house and domestic duties exactly as we asked. We would have him back any time and would recommend him for future house/pet sits."

"Luke looked after our beagle Ginny for nearly 2 weeks in August. From the moment we got in contact with Luke he was friendly, calm, easy to get along with, and clearly had a love for dogs and other animals. While we were away we received a daily photo and quick update of what Ginny had been up to, and we felt this was a really kind and thoughtful touch from Luke. On our return the house was spotless and Ginny was happy - clearly having been looked after with great care. It was a pleasure to meet Luke and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other owners."

"Luke looked after our border collie Flyn at short notice. He was fantastic and sent us updates and photos of Flyn while we were away. He was polite, tidy and always responded quickly to emails and texts. Flyn had a great time while we were away with lots of walks and was a very happy relaxed dog when we returned. We would definately recommend Luke as a petsitter."

"In our hostel we always GET LUCKY to meet new cool people from all over the world. The majority of our tourists are friendly, sweet-temped and easy-going. But, frankly speaking, Luke won our favor. From the very beginning we took him right away for his nice manners and friendly behavior. Luke amused us with his respect for all of the staff as well as with his neatness. But the most engaging quality of his character is the ability to be thankful. He always kept the place perfectly clean, and even helped us with cleaning!! so, we, the Hostel Del Pozitiff staff, recommend Luke as a perfect guest."

"I known Luke at Morocco. I was alone and he with two other couchsurfers, then I joined their group. We met at Tangier and went together to Chefchaouen. I really enjoy the time with him and Aga. He is a great guy, very calm. If you have the opportunity to host or meet him, i really recommend!
I hope see you at Italy or after at Brazil!"
- Matheus Brusius / Couchsurfer / Tangier, Morocco

"I was introduced to Luke while meeting with Agnieszka. It was his first time in Africa and in Morocco, so I guess that it was interesting for him to see different aspects of the city, something we did together. He's a fun and a kind person to make acquaintance with, and we found out that both our names have similar meanings! I hope you have a great adventure around, and, may the force be with you! ;)"

"We hosted Luke for 2 days with his girlfriend - and he was a great guest, from the little time I got to spend with him (My brother was more in charge of hosting as I was busy with work) I've seen a really great guy. and a wonderful and thoughtful guest (They even got us a present!) (:"
