About Me
Hi team!
I moved around a lot as a kid, so calling one place in particular my "hometown" is tough, but I'm going to go with Washington DC. It's where I went to school, it's where I feel most at home, and now that I live in Baltimore, it's where I've done most of my couch surfing!
As a kid I was fortunate to be able to travel a lot with my parents; their philosophy (and now mine) is to live below your means so you can spend your savings on travel. I've added to my philosophy that I chose destinations based on airfare sales; if I can get a good airfare deal to your country and there's a low risk of Zika or Ebola, I'm coming to your country.
Now, I'm fortunate to have a job that sends me across the country once in a while, so I'm building up frequent flyer miles for my next big trip....
When I travel, it's really about two things: nature and food. Architecture is cool, museums are nice, but if I have a couple days somewhere, I'm spending it eating, drinking, and hiking (in that order). I love to cook so I view every trip as a way to find new flavors, new cooking techniques, and new ingredients.
I'm pretty terrible at talking about myself without a prompt, so if there's anything you'd like to know, just ask! I'm shy until there's a question to answer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like meeting new people, and dislike paying for hotels
Interests
Skiing, surfing, rowing, and hiking are my main outdoor activity, plus the camping that sometimes makes them possible.
About a year ago I got into stand-up comedy, and I usually do a show every few weeks.
Finally, cooking is a huge passion of mine. Since I can't afford to travel the whole world, I try to cook a recipe from a new country every week, but sometimes France, Cuba, and Vietnam find their way back to the top of the list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed to the peak of the third tallest volcano in the world to watch the sunrise
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach some basic chef knife skills, and some math/physics. I'd love to learn more Spanish, or new recipes.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Some people say I'm funny, I know how to stay out of the way, and I make pretty amazing crepes (the secret is to add browned butter to the batter). I'm also a certified non-serial-killer
