Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm fairly new to the globetrotting game, but I've found that I don't make the kinds of connections I'd like to when I stay in hotels or even at airbnbs. When I couchsurf, I want to make friends with the folks that I stay with or that stay with me because I don't think you can experience a place without meeting the people that live there.

Music, Movies, and Books

The first genre of music I ever loved was Irish folk music, and this has given folk music in general a special place in my heart because I love the stories that most folk music tells. I also enjoy classic rock, bluegrass, 90s rock, jazz and anything else that'll make me tap my toes. Favorite funny movie - Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Favorite Drama - Saving Private Ryan (I'm a sucker for Tom Hanks). Favorite fiction - Stephen King's Dark Tower Series (wizard and glass being my personal favorite in the series). Favorite non fiction - anything by Jared Diamond, Timothy Snyder or Doris Kearns Goodwin, with Guns, Germs and Steel, Collapse, Bloodlands, The Red Prince, No Ordinary Time and The Bully Pulpit sweeping the top six spots in no particular order.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd be delighted to cook you a meal (or two or three) if you welcome me into your home. Not to brag or anything, but my soups and muffins are particularly delectable. Also, if you (or your kids, friends, or family) need help with your math homework, I've got you covered.
