I spent most of my twenties traveling, and now I'm settled in a lovely corner of Switzerland, right on the Italian border, with my Swiss wife. I'm a cartoonist, and my wife is a dancer and choreographer. We have a cat.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was traveling I always wished there was a better way for me to get to know people and get off the overused Lonely Planet route. Now I can offer that to other travelers -- and I enjoy visiting and sharing ideas and stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love comics -- Watchmen and Locke and Key are the ones that come right to mind as my favorites -- and I read and watch movies a lot, too, mostly of the thriller/adventure variety. I loved To Kill A Mockingbird and Let the Right One In. For movies, I'd say my favorites are Pan's Labyrinth, No Country for Old Men, and Alien.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kind of a barfy question, isn't it? I used to teach windsurfing and sailing in the Virgin Islands, and I was head guide at Dvorak's rafting company in Colorado, and I sent cartoons to The New Yorker for five years before they finally started publishing me. I have one picture book in print, and another on the way, and I'm currently working on a graphic novel.
