ABOUT ME

i approach life as an artist. before moving to sicilia four and a half years ago, i lived in america. here in siracusa i teach music, english, do black and white photography, make lievito madre bread, marmellata, ect. and do whatever comes up to earn my keep.

since my first visit to europa in 1974 i've wanted to live here. after leaving america i lived first in Palermo, Sicilia, then Siracusa, Sicilia, then in the courtryside of south central France. now i'm back in siracusa. my reward for returning to sicilia was meeting the ragazza delle arance, Valentina. she's a beautiful and multi-talented russian/ucranian. with her i'm enjoying the relationship of my dreams- peace, harmony, passion and collaborations on many projects.

so i'm begining to learn a bit of russian.

PHILOSOPHY

adesso é il tempo per imparare come essere l'umano. dopo questa vita posso imparare come essere un angelo.
this is the time to learn how to be human. after this life i can learn to be an angel.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i discovered couchsurfing thanks to my friend Molly Zeagler. the concept, however, is not foreign to me. since the age of eleven i've been fascinated by people from other cultures. during my eleventh summer a man from Turkey stayed in our home and taught me a few words. the only thing i remember is 'seni seviyorum'. it means i love you. before moving to europa i lived in Lexington, Kentucky and my house was know as the 'House of Joy'. i had many friends from the world over and i often provided a couch or spare room for travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i stayed with Giovanni in Napoli for a few days and then, here in Siracusa with Massimiliano for five days.
i've hosted three guests here in Siracusa. after a couple of years without a couch we now can offer a comfortable divano/letto for two. it's a small apartment with no privacy, however, we're in the heart of Ortigia and we have a great samovar that hot twice a day.

Algo increíble que he hecho

on a good day i see or do three amazing things. i climbed Teewinot (3757m) in the Grand Tetons alone and without equipment. i've flown competion level aerobatics. i've done some music performances and foto exibits that were exciting for me. i've met so many amazing people.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

i've been a teacher since the age of 10 when my cousin, Mary Robin, was born and i became fascinated with teaching her every little thing. teaching is a wonderful mode of communication. it's interesting to discover the way in which a certain person learns best. i've taught music, meditation, photography, flying, language, cooking, juggling, flogging, and probably a few others. the best way to learn is to teach.
