ABOUT ME
I'm from Maine in the US but have been living between Canada, the UK, the US and France for the last 10 years.
After finishing a master's in urban planning at UCL in London, I headed home for a year to work as an urban planner before switching things up and becoming a writer, setting up shop in NYC to work as an editor at a magazine. I currently live in Poitiers, France and work for an environmental sustainability consultancy in Paris.
I love traveling, hiking, live music, art and film festivals, photography, cooking and the outdoors. I'm also very interested in environment & sustainability, architecture and exploring new cultures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to couch surfing but I've been to some meetings while abroad. I am looking to meet people wherever I go :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Like I said, still new to CS but have a lot of friends who have met amazing people and had incredible experiences with CS.
Interests
I love cooking & baking - if you are in the vicinity (in the kitchen, down the hall, a 20 minute car drive away) I will find a way to feed you whatever ridiculous thing I have just made.
Growing up in Maine pretty much means you have to like being outside and outdoorsy like things (yes flannel will be involved - don't even try to avoid it). I really enjoy hiking, kayaking, rolling down hills, strolling along the beach - anything outside really.
Live shows - the kind of small, personal shows in hole in the wall bars.
Photography is something I've always loved but have let fall to wayside. Images of industry, garbage - anything not traditionally beautiful is what I enjoy the most.
I also love reading : urban design : bicycling : spasticly dancing (whether or not music is being played) : architecture : art

Music, Movies, and Books
I have really eclectic taste in music but I think the music I listen to most falls within the genres of jazz, folk, acoustic and electronic (i.e. Bonobo, Berry Weight, Pretty Lights).
Books: Pablo Neruda, about travel, urban design, current events told from sociological perspectives, sustainability/environment, food
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to continue to learn about other people and their experiences to expand my perspective of the world.
Kind of nerdy but as an urban planner (kind of) I also like to learn about how people perceive their cities, how they travel. I think it's really important to incorporate these opinions and perspectives into planning activities.
