About Me

Hi there!

I'm Libby, a Sydney girl who is about to embark on her travels to New York (first time visitor!).

In a nutshell, I'm a User Interface designer who's obsessed with food and coffee and always on the hunt for the best eateries and bars in town. I also love design and history and always try to visit historical landmarks, buildings and museums when travelling.

I'm also a swing dancer and fascinated with anything vintage and jazz music. I try to dig out local jazz bars when travelling for a bit of live music.

I've previously lived in London for 2 years and have visited many countries across Europe, Scandinavia and Asia Pacific.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I met a few couch surfers during my uni days through meet ups and friends who hosted, and have always loved the energy of couch surfers. I feel I share the same passions for travel and new experiences. I haven't couch surfed in a few years, instead have been staying in hostels when travelling but haven't always connected closely with people like I have through couch surfing. Hoping to make new friends with similar interests whilst travelling the globe.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson films, but also enjoy shows like The Office, Extras, IT Crowd, Black Books. Basically I'm obsessed with British comedy.
I love Indie and folk music, but also a sucker for some old school Jazz. Some of my favourite bands are Oasis, fleet foxes, Laura marling, Beach house, Arcade Fire, and for the jazz, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington. It's a weird and eclectic mix

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once met Bill Bailey and Jamie Oliver. Not at the same time, different circumstances. Technically I stalked Bill Bailey and cornered him into a photo. He had no choice. And I was invited to meet Jamie as an employee, so that was all normal.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not going to lie, I'm a pretty good cook. I've worked at Jamie Oliver's restaurants in the past. I can make a mean shepherd's pie. If that doesn't win you over, I don't know what will. Basically, I will cook you delicious meals whenever you demand them.
I also know random dying languages like Old English (technically extinct) and Scottish Gaelic (on it's way out). The consequence of majoring in Celtic Studies at uni. So if you want to learn more about those I can help you.
Oh and I'm also a keen swing dancer so if you want to learn, I'm happy to teach!
