ABOUT ME

I am a teacher and writer living near Flin Flon, MB in a small community just over the border in Saskatchewan. My husband, Dan, is also a high school teacher and an avid photographer. We tend to travel together so I've included info about both of us here.

We are both open-minded and curious travelers. We love to meet new people and always enjoy the opportunity to chat around a kitchen table with new friends (and perhaps a bottle of wine). We have lived together in Ecuador, South Korea, and (within Canada) in Halifax, Toronto and now Creighton, Saskatchewan (near Flin Flon, Manitoba).
I am originally from Toronto; Dan is from Cape Breton.

Postscript: We now have a third traveller in tow most of the time, our daughter Sophie (born Sept 2016). She's super fun and adorable and a (mostly) good sleeper.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are currently taking a year off to see family and travel around Canada (2021-2022 school year) and sold our house in northern SK and moved into our Skoolie conversion (see www.aCanadian Skoolie.ca). We will be in southern Ontario and eastern Cape Breton, NS quite a bit.

We would love the opportunity to show people around our new hometowns, Creighton and Flin Flon. This is an incredibly warm community and there is always something interesting happening here - especially in the arts. We bought a house on a lake recently and we love to share it with guests. We are in an ongoing state of renovations, so we may or may not have space available for those who would like to stay.

I love to read just about anything I can get my hands on, though fiction is closest to my heart.
We both love live music - one of the reasons we love living in Creighton/Flin Flon where there are so many talented local performers, and tons of lively arts events.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are both high school teachers with a focus on alternative education and technology integration. We are also taking a yoga teacher training course (Sept 2021-May 2022).

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can cook dinner, entertain you with stories and keep you company. Dan can play the spoons :)
