Overview
About Me
I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma and am now a PhD student at UC Davis, studying agriculture, in northern California. I have been living communally for the last few years and have grown to appreciate the benefits one can give and receive from friends and neighbors.
I really enjoy getting to know people and cultures different than myself; I have lived and work in Sierra Leone off and on since 2011 doing various development projects related to community development. I have a huge appreciation for nature and the outdoors, and really enjoy participating in outdoor events, supporting local artists, farmer's markets, and ultimate frisbee! I like to try new things, especially activities and food, and am almost always down for an adventure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think couchsurfing is a great platform for meeting and learning about people different from myself. I'm a supporter of the concepts around community- kindness, consideration, attentiveness to well-being, staying connected to struggles and supporting success- and think couchsurfing can help create a more connected global society. I want to be a part of that and contribute where I can!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm pretty nerdy and enjoy reading science journals, weekly news briefs from Science, the Genetic Literacy Project, and Quartz Africa. I also appreciate non-fiction written by authors who cite their references, but also general essays about nature, science, people's experiences and how it helped shaped their world view.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
What constitutes "Amazing"? When I lived in Sierra Leone I owned a motorbike and have great stories from running around the West African jungle.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love plants and all things related to plants! Including caring for them as well as eating them! I'm a big fan of communal eating and enjoy cooking and sharing meals with people.
