ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Libing. My parents were chinese immigrants who moved to Kansas when I was about 1 year old, so while I was born in China, I have not had much exposure to my ethnic culture. Despite this, I love learning about new cultures!

I am currently applying to medical school and am working in various places during the year off. These include an eye clinic in Mexico City, a health conference, and at a malaria research lab at the University of California, San Francisco.

Sometimes when I meet new people, I am shy at first, but I usually open up fairly quickly and have a very silly side!

PHILOSOPHY

I feel very lucky to be where I am today and I understand that much of what I have was very serendipitous and not solely due to my personal merits. Thus, when I look at people who struggle to create opportunities for themselves, but end up failing for no fault of their own, I feel a great sense of injustice that I want to correct. So, in other words, I want to dedicate my life to help reducing the inequalities due to social class and creating universal opportunities through health.
