About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Provide good CS karma for my family's travelers...
ABOUT ME
OMG, I'm not dating. I'm offering you a place to rest your weary head! :-) That said, I'm a friendly 52 year old equity specialist. I love meeting people from all over the world, and hearing about different cultures!
I'm happy to host folks but rarely have time to be a tour-guide. Evening dinners in the backyard are great - I love hearing about your travels and your life.
I have one dog and two cats permanently. I seem, however, to end up fostering a rotating herd of homeless or injured animals as well as those whose parents are on vacation. If you are afraid of or allergic to sweet but ill behaved critters, seriously, this isn't the home for you. Unless you want to conquer that fear! :-)
PHILOSOPHY
Help those who need it, love all, trust most, and be kind.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Thus far, it's been just loads of hosting. Good karma for my nieces, nephews, and son who couch surf. I host, they surf!
I have a open bedroom for short term stays and a detached garden house for longer or two-singles stays (no attached bathroom facilities - just beds). I'm happy to provide bedding, towels and the odd meal. Please, if you're here for longer than a few days, contribute. Upon your departure - please strip your bed and leave the sheets and towels to be washed in the laundry area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Have hosted a large number of travelers. It's been wonderful. My son CSs and has had a great experience. My nephew is going to Portland, OR this summer via CSing. My other nephew surfed around Asia and Europe for most of 2014. Color me envious! Soon...
Lastly, I 've gotten a lot of requests from folks to stay in my home and the person's profile has (almost) nothing beyond their name. Just to save you some time, please, don't ask to stay here. I won't host a person who has no profile - I'm opening my home to you for free - the very least you can do is have pictures, a little written about you, and ideally, some verifications. I know it costs money. However, you're staying at peoples home for free! The savings on ONE night pay many times over for the verifications (do they all cost money? I don't remember).

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite book: Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt
Favorite music: Most anything; indy, rock and roll from the 60s and 70s, classical, some country, just starting to listen to "dance" channel on Pandora and love some of it (especially for the gym).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
2013: Just got back from Yosemite State Park (three + hours from Sacramento) and it was AMAZING! As was Mono Lake and Lake Tahoe.
2014: In Southern CA with family for the week - saw grey whales and thousands of dolphins off the coast. 15 feet away from the boat.
2014: Lafayette, LA was amazing!
2015: Just got back from Utah - saw two moose! AMAZING!
2016: Maine! Camping in Cobscook State Park. Bald eagle fledglings, seals, wild turkeys, etc... So great!
Teach, Learn, Share
As you may have heard, CA is a desert and we are in a MEGA-drought! SO... Water conservation is the name of the game. Please plan to help out while you visit CA and especially in my home!
Also, I'm allergic to all things aerosol and a lot of highly processed detergents, shampoos, lotions, etc. Please use sparingly if at all. I have all sorts of freebies from hotels that don't make me what to run and hide.
