About Me

** I'm NOT HOSTING at the moment, but I'd love to MEET UP or go HIKING on the island**

I live in a quiet village on the beautiful island of La Palma, together with my boyfriend. A few years ago I traveled around for a year to improve my Spanish, meet different people and volunteer in permaculture projects.

I'm a language teacher and consider myself as a social and open-minded person, optimistic who really loves to talk to people and learn new things.

I really enjoy working in the garden, I grow old heirloom varieties (I've got more than 50 different types of tomatoes)! We also have bananas, 3 goats and chickens.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is a great way to meet people you normally wouldn't meet. I really believe that every person we meet has a special message for you. I wonder what your message will be :)

As I'm really passionate about languages, one of the main reasons of me being on CS is to meet and talk to natives. I just enjoy learning from other people and cultures, with the big aim to grow as a person and become a better person myself, with respect for plants, animals and humans - not necessary in that order ;-)

Interests

I've got two big passions in life, what are your passions?

First of all, I love languages: being able to communicate with different people has opened so many doors to me. As a consequence, I love reading, humor, teaching languages and listening to music (in different languages).

My second big passion in life is nature and everything that comes along with it: a day without gardening feels like an incomplete day to me, it charges me and makes me feel useful by acting local but thinking global. I also love making big hikes on the island and discovering new places, new routes, new views,...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - a little bit of everything: Bob Dylan, the kinks, the smiths, the Cure, Belle and Sebastian, Lhasa, Cesaria Evora, Jacques Brel, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, Paco de Lucia, Pink Floyd, Serge Gainsbourg, the Doors, Chavela Vargas, Nina Simone, Michael Kiwanuka ...

Movies: Donnie Darko, old westerns (the good, the bad and the ugly,...), amélie poulain, the butterfly effect, documentaries, Boyhood, before sunset trilogy, ...

Books: mostly literature in other languages: John Seymour, Boris Vian, Haruki Murakami, Camus, Stephen King, Sand, Sartre, Isabel Allende, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's more than 1 thing, hope that's ok :)

- Volunteering on a wonderful permaculture finca in Tenerife where permaculture is used a form of therapy for people with mental illness

- Helping to build a Cob-house (clay, sand and straw) in the Pyrenees

- Autohypnosis

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're visiting the island, we can go for a hike together. I can also give you some advice on what's worth visiting.

I'm always looking to improve my languages. I can teach French, German, English and Spanish and if you're really interested even Dutch :)

Of course, I can teach you about organic gardening and permaculture as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversations, positive vibes, humor, and chocolate :)
