About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Time to take the mission impossible!
ABOUT ME
Hi I’m Lieurene but everyone calls me Lilo. At the age of three, I was diagnosed profoundly deaf. Since then, I grew up with hearing aids and went to oral school. It wasn’t until seventh grade when I learned ASL. I am a coffee-holic. I am also a pizza lover. That is pure happiness to me: slice of pizza and a cup of coffee even while traveling.
I’ve always had the strong desire for traveling since at a young age. It was not until 2014 when I finally decided to travel on my own and along with travel buddies. And to my surprise I had no regrets. In fact, it only added fuel to my growing passion for travel.
I graduated from Cal State University of Fullerton with a bacherlor's in biochemistry. I want to explore the world and see what impacts I can make on others as well as how they can impact me! Very friendly and easy to get along with people, I would love to meet everyone.
I can speak English verbally and do american sign language
PHILOSOPHY
I live by what my mother have always taught me, “Never let anything hold you back, not even your deafness”.
Life is just too short and the world is just too big
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I went backpacking with my friend, she introduced me to this website: couch surfing. Through her, I was able to couch surf in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore! It was a great experience and it was so nice to meet with them. Also, it was a great way to be able to interact with them and teach them sign language as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oooh this is a great question!
-One of the amazing thing I have done is playing with the elephants in Thailand. Meeting them for the first time and learning about them was an amazing experience that I can never forget.
-Saw the Milky Way at the Sand Dune Monument at midnight in Colorado (amazing!) my friends and I were the only one there!
-I did 3 Disney half marathons
-Kayaking during the storm in San Juan Islands, Seattle! Scary experience but worth it!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am forever a student on a subject called life. Everyday I am learning something and it is my hope that people can learn from me when they meet me. I hope to teach people that Deaf can do anything and that it is okay to be different.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share about Deaf culture and spread Deaf awareness. I would love to teach them Sign Language as well. I think it is important for anyone who can hear to be able to communicate and get to know Deaf so that they can see that Deaf can do anything but hear.
I would also love to talk about travel whether if its my own experience, future travel plans or just hearing about your travel!
Countries I’ve Visited
Bahamas, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Japan, Nicaragua, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand
