Aiyiyi. I work full-time and try to be the best mom, friend, and wife I can be. In my downtime I paint pictures to take care of myself and I enjoy having a house full of people. In 2006 I wrote the following description of myself and, while I find it no longer fits me very well, reading it cracked me up: "I am crusty, but not like a loaf of bread or unwashed bits. I have a very crude streak (if you can call most of one's self a streak) and am sometimes offensive, but I don't mean to be. I will shortly be a mother and between devotion, imagination, and determination I expect to be a good mom." And I am! I am a rockin' mom. I love messes and exploring and staring contests and making noises that are very similar to "SPLAT!" These skills are highly transferable. I am considerably less crusty and crude these days.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I host because I believe that our connecting with others is important and makes our lives richer. I expect that guests will spend a little time with us (even if it's just an hour in the evening).

You should not plan to stay with me and bring any sort of illegal substance. In Virginia this includes marijuana. Please know that should you decide to surf with me and disregard this expectation, I will leave a terrible review.

When I am a guest, I don't want to just stay in a place, I want to become familiar with it and we do this through our relationships. I try to be a gracious guest, and I acknowledge that folks have busy lives, but I do want to get to know you just a little if you're kind enough to host me.

I have previously done a fair bit of hosting. I've done a little surfing. I used to be a moderator for the Columbia, SC CSing group and work coordinate gatherings once a month or so. I just started a Charlottesville, VA CSing group and hope to find a community here. Couch surfing has been entirely positive for me. I love sharing experiences with others.

Books: The bluest eye, A river runs through it, Love story with woodpecker, Ender's game, Animal farm, Jane Eyre

Music: Dead Can Dance, Diesel Boy, NIN, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, The Jezabels, Kesha, Marilyn Manson (for the incredible show he puts on), Saul Williams.
I like eighties DJS, goth clubs, drum and bass/dubstep, jazz, classical, and blue grass.

Moives: I'm not crazy about horror (with the exception of poltergeist, the exorcist, the shining, and the omen). I like terrible teen moral-of-the-story kind of movies such as Mean Girls or The Perfect Score. I'll watch art films for the pretty factor, but often I fall asleep if the pace is too slow.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Little things are amazing. Children make dead-on observations. Rivers let off steam in the morning sun. A cat gives a smug smile as he stretches. Noticing the amazing things makes life amazing.
