About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Currently traveling through South East Asia on my way home to Australia after teaching English in Japan for a year and a half! Looking to meet cool local people, and foreigners to hang out with. Not enjoying being treated so much like a tourist after calling Asia home for such a long time, so some beers and noodles would be more appreciated than a whirlwind tour of tourist spots.

ABOUT ME

I'm too excited about life to settle down quite yet! I am very interested in culture and languages and love to learn as much about the world as I can. I have lived and travelled for relatively long periods of time in East Asia, and am currently spending a year doing a working holiday in Japan. The main thing I enjoy about travelling here is meeting the people and eating all the regional foods. Following the seasons here is also really exciting for me, as each one is so different, and so full of traditions!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that we are born to experience this world, at this time. All the joy and the pain that comes into our lives is a gift that we can learn from if we choose to. We are lucky enough to have the ability to go through life questioning if what we are doing is perfect for us, and if not, we have the responsibility to go on random amazing adventures to try to change that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently travelling so cannot offer a couch. Hoping to find some great places to surf in Japan and South East Asia.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had some amazing experiences couch surfing and met some of my favourite people through couch surfing. One experience turned from 5 days into a three month house sitting experience! Gotta love open minded people!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I love movies that either make me laugh, or mess with my head a bit. I like being made to think. Also I have a really soft spot for musicals.

Music: I enjoy all kinds of music, but lately I have been really getting into Latin and African music. Of course, living in Japan, Japanese pop has also entered into my favourites list.

Books: I love reading about history, nature, and spirituality. Currently reading a lot about traditional African religions. I also really enjoy fantasy novels. Any book that can take me somewhere far away.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Worked as a teacher in far North-East China for 7 months in -40 degree C Temperatures, living off Pork and Vodka. Ahh those were the days. ^^

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some basic massage skills, Japanese language, Reiki, and I can tell you lots about Paganism, Shamanism and Earth Based Spirituality.

I would love to learn Fire Twirling, Contact Juggling, Surfing, Wood Carving, a musical instrument, SCUBA, and any language that you might like to teach me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook (especially Japanese food) and I love having long chats about culture and the similarities and differences of people around the world.

Countries I’ve Visited
