About Me

I am a student glider pilot & an aircraft mechanic.

My interests are of course tech & science, but I also love music and ecology. I practice different street dances and improvisational comedy.

Having a deep interest in science and technology, I have worked at AHHAA Science Center, competed in a scientific TV-show `Rakett 69` and volunteered at the Teadusbuss (Science Bus). I even started studies in physics but I quit - one of the biggest regrets I have.

Now I have set my path on conquering the sky :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Occasionally I happen to get a chance to travel abroad for a training course or some youth project. Usually accommodation is taken care of by the organizer, but is limited to the dates of the event itself. A problem many may know. I prefer to discover the places and locals of the places I have visited a few days before or after a project.

Another more plain reason is that as I have started my path as a student again (Information Technology), I cannot work full-time anymore to cover all the travel expenses. Whether it is to educate myself in my professional field or to take part of street dance jams and workshops or to run at orienteering competitions, there are more and more reasons for me to stay abroad.

Music, Movies, and Books

Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis... anything sci fi about space, science and tech. Especially Stargate. :D

Chris Hadfield `An Astronaut`s Guide To Life On Earth` , Andy Weir `Artemis` and `Hail Mary`, Nikolai Baturin `The Way of the Dolphins`. There are many, really. I love reading.

I know how to play french horn and dance to funky break beats.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a science theatre performer I got to do crazy experiments and demonstrations daily. Once I even had to put out a fire there.

I made some liquid oxygen during science theater performance. Basically, rocket propellant. I poured it over some steel wool placed on a pan in a fume hood, lit it up and closed the door. Boy, did the sparks fly! Usually as a result I had just a pan full of steel balls.

But this time one of the steel balls had jumped off the pan, rolled in a corner of the fume hood and lit some hidden plastic parts of the system there. Result - me extinguishing flaming fire in a science theatre in front of hundred audience members.

All ended well, only poor fume hood was quite damaged. I even managed to continue science theater what, by the way, was called `The Chemistry Of Fire`.

Story did not end quite there, though. But what happened after, you can ask me later ;)
