ABOUT ME

Note: I am fully vaccinated and have received boosters. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. My childhood was what I would call Bohemian - when I was 5, my parents and I spent 4 months camping throughout Europe in a VW bus. My parents had what I would call European values; my father was Polish and grew up in Poland till after WW II, when his family escaped to Italy and then England, while my mother lived in France after college and travelled throughout Europe. At a young age I was exposed to travel, art, music, and culture of all kinds. I also felt very strongly about saving the earth.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that all people from all countries are fundamentally good and have the same nature. I wish to learn more about other countries and appreciate the world so I can help create peace on the planet. I feel that by understanding others I can help promote peace and goodwill. I am an explorer of life.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love exploring the world and travel and wish to be a respectful and considerate global citizen. I also like to help people who are visiting this country. I enjoy learning other languages and attempting to speak to native speakers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had the opportunity to begin couch surfing on my trip to Turkey in May 2010. I met many wonderful people there, and then went on to Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, and Poland. It was a wonderful experience and I loved every minute of it.

Interests

I love nature, history, politics, adventure, and beauty. I like to walk/hike fast in the mountains every day, go to museums whenever possible, listen to live music of all kinds, talk with friends, meet people, dance, and spend far too much time on the computer, though I love Wikidpedia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One summer I decided to hike a few miles on the Pacific Crest Trail that runs from Mexico to Canada. I started at Mt Shasta in California and felt so free with just a pack on my back that I ended up hiking 1000 miles. One scene that really stood out the trek was a very steep and precipitous mountain pass that I had to cross, which was ice-covered. I watched a pack horse coming from the opposite side, roll down the hill after losing its footing.

I would like to share my knowledge of ecology, nature, environmental degradation, politics, folk music from the world, ethnographic studies, pre-Christian religions and beliefs, and many other subjects.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love finding out about hosts' cultures and lives, sharing life and travel experiences, hiking, writing poems, playing music and singing, drinking coffee and tea, exploring environs together
