About Me

Hello! Have been back to the States for a few years now after living overseas. Trying to explore more of the US and continue my love of travel. I am absolutely in love with traveling, seeing new sights/cities/countries, trying new cuisines, hearing different languages, and meeting new people! Despite having two best friends from my hometown since I was 5 years old, I truly believe that it does not matter how long you've known a person to feel like you've known them your whole life!!That's something that really blows me away sometimes, you get to see that when people are open, easy-going, and friendly it can be incredible what can come about the encounter. I also LOVEEE hearing about other peoples' stories about their travels, experiences and just life in general! Whenever I meet new people in new cities and countries and I'm listening to their stories, it's freaking inspiring to hear from folks from all walks of life who are truly making the most out of life, LIVING IT UP AND TRAVELING!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Yes, there's hotels and hostels, but then there's Couchsurfing! It's such a unique and awesome way to experience a city and meet new people, especially locals or people who have been living there and know the city quite well. Having someone welcome you to their home so you can experience their city is pretty amazing. It adds whole layer of depth of experiencing in a new city one is visiting. That’s a big part of how I was raised in my culture, to invite someone into your home is a blessing. To be able to come together with different folks from any part of the world, share our life stories and break bread is a beautiful thing and such a privilege. I have never taken for granted those moments.

Interests

I like to listen to music, I love how quickly it can affect your mood, anything from upbeat or chill..and reading, a good book that enlightens me about life. I've always been active in sports too, tennis is definitely my favorite sport but I'm a fan of soccer (football) and basketball too! Live sporting events are the best!

Music, Movies, and Books

Gosh, my music interests are all over the place! You know what's pretty incredible about speaking different languages!? It also opens up a whole new music world! I get down to both English and Spanish music, just depends on the occasion and my mood. Since moving to Spain I've defintely appreciated Spanish music more, something about it just makes you want to get up dance! Haha. Then there's the English music world as well, ahh man on man, so much to choose from. Defs. about the Avicii music life, but my tastes honestly varies from anything like Kid Cudi to The Killers, to Mumford and Sons or Rihanna. Love me some Kendrick Lamar and Frank Ocean as well and recently in LOVE with George Ezra! Ahh, his album is amazing, you know one of those great ones that you can let play the whole way through without wanting to skip a song? Yea, that one!! Went to one of his shows this past summer, road-tripped to Portland, Oregon with my sister and he killed it!! Music is life, yall, especially live music!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Upon graduation from university I turned down a full-time legit job and decided to move 5,500 miles from home and across the Atlantic and started working and living in Madrid, Spain!! I arrived just me, myself, and my suitcase, not knowing a single soul out here. One of the most wildest/scariest/adventurous/intimidating/but rewarding and incredible things I've done thus far in my life!

I've also Zip-lined upside down through the forests of Nicaragua. Such a thrill!

Road-tripping from Seattle to California with some friends during our college days was pretty rad too!

Oh yea, also! During senior year of university my friends and I went to Vegas for Spring Break and seriously one of the craziest freaking things ever! Long story short; we were waiting for our other friends in the lobby of XS to go to the next club together and long behold, FREAKING AVICII COMES WALKING THROUGH THE HALLWAY!!! hahah, honestly it happened so fast but without thinking for one second, I followed and joined his "crew" and I have no idea how the heck it happened but I got through security with him and "his people" hahah and I got to go on freaking stage with Avicii in his freaking DJ Booth!!! When he started his show I was dancing and chilling with his crew on the VIP couches enjoying his music. Seriously, one of the most insane experiences in my life, for suree! Sometimes just right place at the right time! RIP Avicii

Teach, Learn, Share

As mentioned before, I love learning from people, in every sense of the word. Learning about someone's culture, their way of life, their passions, their likes and dislikes, hobbies, travel stories and life experiences. Life is all about perspective and it's really interesting to me learning why people think the way they think. Largely in part because so much of who we are is shaped by our environment and the environment in which we grew up.

This recently hit me when I asked a friend how far her hometown was from a Cambridge, UK. She said 4 hours, so I said, perfect! Come visit Cambridge! She replied, "What, 4 hours is so far!" It hit me that a 4-hour drive to me is nothing! Being from the States, it's huge! and a 4 hour drive to us is nothing, haha. She's from Wales so her home country is a bit smaller than mine. Just put things into perspective how people see, measure, appreciate and think about things differently for so many different reasons. Sometimes for reasons so small you wouldn't even realize had you not stopped to think about it.

Obviously I love sharing my travel stories too!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My life experiences and the wild adventures of life. I love meeting new people and I'm really easy to get along with; therefore, I like to befriend people from all over the world and invite people to visit me as well in Oregon and in the U.S. as I would love to show people my city and reciprocate the hospitality! I also like to share a good meal or some drinks with my hosts. Coming together with hosts and guests and sharing a meal one has cooked is the universal language of the world. One does not need to speak the same language or have the same upbringing to be able to appreciate time an company over food and drinks.
