About Me

Me and my wife Abi live in a small town just north of Edinburgh and travel together. We are currently on our (extended) honeymoon, cycling to Greece, which we hope to reach by October. We are both vegan, and are involved in community arts and diy culture. We make zines, and back home we help run a zine library in Edinburgh. You can find us on instagram @gearsforqueers or check out our blog www.gearsforqueers.co.uk

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We've used warmshowers before (which is like couchsurfing but for cycle tourers) and love the community, and the reciprocity. We recently met up and cycled with a friend through germany for a week and stayed with someone through couchsurfing - we had such a great stay we thought we should sign up ourselves. We're not able to host folks at the moment, since we are on the road, but we look forward to welcoming travellers to our eventual flat in Kirkcaldy.

Music, Movies, and Books

We both enjoy sci-fi (books & films).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think we'd both say our last cycle tour was one of the coolest things we've done as a couple - we cycled from Amsterdam to Montpellier over 3 months. This tour has been totally different - we aren't such newbies so it's much less of a step into the unknown, but we are challenging ourselves in different ways.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm keen into bike mechanics so am happy to take a look at any bikes you've got lying about, or if you have a specific problem I can help fix. We're happy to share a vegan meal or a cup of tea, and we can always show you how to fold a mini-zine!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We enjoy chatting, but are very low maintenance guests and pretty laid back. We've got loads of cycle touring stories to share, and are happy to talk route planning, trips, tips and tricks. We'd love to cook you a big vegan meal.
