About Me

Hello there!

I’m an adventure-seeking university student currently living in the Netherlands. That’s also the reason I unfortunately can’t host anyone in this stage of my life but I can’t wait for the opportunity to shower my future visitors with freshly baked cookies and pets to..pet haha. If you have any questions or need advice for your trip to Hungary or anything I can help with, feel free to contact me regardless!

I grew up in Budapest, the capital of Hungary and basically lived there all my life but right now I live in the loveliest dutch student town (after living in the middle of nowhere as an AuPair) both of which i couldn’t enjoy more! I guess I’ve always been a countrygirl-wannabe. I get to bike and travel a lot wherever I go which I’ve always enjoyed.

I personally don’t smoke and I don’t enjoy drinking in particular either but that doesn’t stop me from going to awesome ruinpubs (one of the coolest places is Budapest) with good friends. I’m not a party person but I do enjoy good concerts and festivals.
(Side note: Come to SZIGET! I feel like Alice in wonderland whenever I enter ’The Island of Freedom’. Yes, that’s right. The festival has its own island.)

I LOVE PETS! My mom is (so we thought) allergic to pet fur so I only had hamsters (at my dad’s workplace) and a little fish that was half transparent and eventually swam down the drain without notice to look for a better future. Living in the Netherlands as an Au-Pair and sharing my room with the most beautiful ragdol cat ever born on planet Earth, however, resulted in an unexpectedly wonderful turn of events. Upon my family's visit from home, I and my sister found out that my mother is not, in fact, allergic to pet fur making it feel like we lived 20+ years in a lie. As a result, my absence back home got quickly filled in with two furry friends, soon to be followed by their babies. Long story short, I got replaced by 4 majestic Bengal cats. I can't blame my family.

I also like bad puns! The worst jokes are hands down the best and I can laugh at them for ages.

„Why can’t a T-rex clap its hands?”
*crickets chirp*
„…because it’s extinct.”
(hahahah….aha……ha..)

sorry.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

First of all I’m genuinely fond of all the colourful cultures around the world and I just can’t help but want to get to know yours even just a tiny bit. I’m very open in this aspect and always ready to learn something new. Like your favourite saying in your language or the simplest recipe of a homey dish from your typical cuisine or even just a fun fact of your country.

Whenever I get the chance to travel I’m always looking for the city’s hidden gems that only local friends would be familiar with. If I’m the one guiding I also prefer showing you less well-known but more unique spots to really get the feeling of my home and not just scratch the surface with the main touristy sights.

I don’t care for luxury much and would exchange any hotel room to a couch or matrace in a cosy little flat with good company. So all in all, I simply love experiencing new things, going on andventures and making good friends along the way.

Interests

Everything. Really. I’m interested in way too many things which makes me not too skilled in anything in particular. (Other than eating. I’m really good at eating. That’s when I’m the happiest too.) Music, for example, has always been part of my life. My mom is a music teacher and I’ve played the cello for over 10 years. I also like crafts and I could be doing crafty things for days without actually getting bored of it. (Christmas is my favourite time of the year partly for that reason). I like going out on trips (and climbing everything from trees to climbing walls) or just having a picnic and watching the clouds go by or stargazing on a clear night. 95% of my camera roll is of the sky (or food) anyway. As much as I like meeting up with friends what I enjoy even more is staying in curled up with a good book. Or inviting someone over for tons of ice cream and a movie-marathon.

I constantly have a dream about learning all the languages in the world fluently. I’m failing pretty badly so far since I still have a lot of languages on my wish-list that I haven’t even started.. Another big dream of mine (besides learning to fly) is travelling aaalllll throughout Asia…..and..Australia…and Africa….and let’s not forget America…and the rest of Europe……*sigh*

I’m not good at photography but my most cherished belonging is my polaroid camera. I love how it captures those exact moments of your life.

I like working ’behind the scenes’ so I happily volunteer in all kinds of events/shows/camps or festivals.

I also love doing sports but mostly the ones played in teams (I’m not a fan of running). But I wanna try bungee-jumping. And water sports. And doing more winter sports. And learning how to play other instruments or how to draw or sing well…and getting ninja-like chef skills and..and..and….

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music varies from classical music to yodeling. K-pop is my guilty pleasure but I listen to anything that grabs my attention. (I’m pretty sure there are at least a few musicians whose music we both enjoy. Except if you only listen to soulless screaming.)

I enjoy a wide range of book types too. From children’ s books (the ones of the Moomin family are my all-time favourites) to adventure/fantasy/thriller/motivational/cheesy lovestory and most importantly cookbooks are all very welcome in my library.

Eleanor H. Porter’s ’Pollyanna’ is my recommendation for anyone to read. I also enjoyed ’The Illustrated man’ by Ray Bradbury.

As for the movies..(#teamLordOfTheRings!) I’m a huge fan of Carlo Pedersoli so if i hear ’Bud Spencer’ expect me to butt in the conversation within less than 5 seconds. I’ll gladly watch all Bud and/or Terrence Hill movies with you a hundred times or more. Same for Disney classics and the Ace Ventura movies. But generally, even though I like good comedies and action movies, I prefer ones that make you….feel..? Like ’The Intouchables’ or ’La vita è bella.’

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made my favourite artist laugh who’s known for his never-fading pokerface and he’s bored face looks like he’s about to murder someone (thanks God his humour is bad enough).

Teach, Learn, Share

Well as I said earlier I’m not an expert anything in particular but I can teach you fun stuff like the longest hungarian words that are probably impossible to pronounce haha. Feeling challanged?

I’m here to learn about amazing people and places as much as possible within the given number of days. So anything you can teach me or share with me is super valuable for me. I wanna become Santa (so I could make hand-made presents all my life) so you can also expect a little something in case I’m visiting you.

I want to learn sign language!

What I Can Share with Hosts

First of all the most treasurable thing i can get from you is your time. As much as I would like to enjoy your company I know how busy and unpredictable life can get so I don’t expect anything in particular. If you have time to show me around or hang out, great! If you can give me some local tips that’s also amazing. I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable at all. But! If you happen to be very busy at least let me cook you something hearty hungarian. I’m not a 5-star schef but I do enjoy being in the kitchen. Feeding people who are content with my food is the best compliment and feeling ever.

I had folk dance classes as a kid so I can teach you some basic steps I still remember if you want me to..haha.

Since I love craftsy stuff and do-it-yourself projects let me know if I can help you upgrade any part of your room/flat/garden you name it. I could help with just brainstorming or you can tell me your ideas and I will think about ways to make it happen.

And last but not least, if you have time and fun board games........ :)
