About Me

I love being outside, anywhere and in all weather, with my girlfriend (Heather Frost https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/hfrost26 ) and our dog, Bubbles (see Photos) - although he doesn't like the rain as much as me :D We are both great cooks and enjoy cooking together, making something out of nothing, hiking all day or all weekend, or just hanging out in the yard with drinks playing Kubb and Yahtzee.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just got back from a semester in Germany and traveling around Europe a bit and I'm excited to host here in Ithaca again!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Modest Mouse, The Tallest Man on Earth, Chris Pureka, The Beatles, Iron and Wine, Ben Howard, Beyonce, The California Honeydrops, The Shins, Blink-182, The Arctic Monkeys, Brandi Carlile, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Tegan & Sara, Gossip

Movies: Anything with Amy Poehler or Kristen Wiig, all the HP movies, heist movies. I like a lot of different movies, but I'm kind of picky and critical about them in general.

Books: TONS! HP (obviously). I read a lot of novels, mostly cherry picked by family members. Some of my favorite have been The Snow Child, Tell the Wolves I'm Home, Miss Peregrine's School of Peculiar Children, Galapagos, The Catcher in the Rye, The Goldfinch, and probably a million others I'm forgetting. I also love true adventure stories like Endurance, A Long Trek Home, Grandma Gatewood's Walk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On one of my brother's recommendations, I hiked the Devil's Path in the Catskills in one day. 26 miles (42 km), 7 peaks. It took me almost 15 hours, which is pretty slow but it was the longest I'd ever hiked. It was grueling! And super fun :D

Teach, Learn, Share

When baking rye bread, replace half the water with pickle juice - trust me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Tips for great hikes in the Finger Lakes, adventure stories over some beers, I'd be happy to help cook a meal.

Countries I’ve Visited

Croatia, England, Germany, Luxembourg, Morocco, Netherlands, Scotland, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United States
