ABOUT ME
English teacher extraordinaire living and working in Washington, DC.
I believe in taking things one step at a time, and stopping to breathe and look around occasionally. I feel like I am an in a perpetual state of getting better acquainted with the world I find myself in. I am a bibliophile, a nature/hiking/backpacking-enthusiast and a runner who enjoys a good dark beer.
PHILOSOPHY
When I was asked this question by a 15-year-old Azerbaijani student, my answer was, "To learn as much as possible and leave the world a little better than I find it". I'll stick with that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A couple years ago backpacked across a stretch of the Greater Caucasus Mountains: I saw amazing beauty from incredible heights, I was awestruck by the magnificence of the night sky completely undisturbed by human lights, I shared food with shepherds, I walked the hills with over a thousand sheep, I camped on a mountaintop, I was more exhausted than my body has ever been before, I fell down a mountainside, and I arrived home covered in mud and memories.
