About Me

I have just graduated from a History and Chinese degree at Newcastle (NE England) and rather than getting a serious job I've decided to explore a bit more.
First stop Taiwan, hopefully to improve my Chinese, do a cycle touring trip down the coast, work on some organic farms and then in between each project I'd like to explore some Taiwanese towns and cities - which is where couch surfing comes in!
I would consider myself very open-minded, outgoing and I love to try new things.
I have that British slightly sarcy, dry sense of humour, so I try not to take life too seriously.
I also hate writing these 'about me' profiles so I hope my briefness/bluntness hasn't put you off as I can be very friendly and love a good chat.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Mainly to meet new interesting people but also to learn about a place from a local perspective- to get off the tourist trail.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a wide variety of films, anything from an intense Stanley Kubrick to a cheesy romcom like Love Actually.
My favourite writer at the moment is Arunduthi Roy - with her new book The Ministry of Upmost Happiness (although personally I think her first book is better).
My music taste as well varies according to my mood, ranging from smaller alternative bands like 'Little Dragon' or 'Everything Everything' to acoustic First Aid Kit, or classical Ludvico Enauldi, then even chart hits like Major Lazer, Arctic Monkeys, classics of course like The Beatles. Admittedly my music knowledge is limited but I am always keen for new tracks and artists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Get out of bed EVERY day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy cooking and would love the opportunity to cook my host a vegetarian meal for us! Can't promise gourmet cuisine but will try and make it tasty.
Language exchange would also be perfect - if anyone wants to practice English i can help and I'm also very keen to improve my Mandarin.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, language exchange, interesting conversation and an open mind.
