To get back a bit of my perspective and passion

ABOUT ME

I'm a New Zealander who has always looked outward and wanted to know about how the lives of other people play out and how their cultures define them. I love to see beautiful things, meet beautiful and interesting people and be challenged with new situations. I love travelling by myself and choosing my own plans but its also nice to have someone else there to watch my bag when I go to the toilet. I love roughing it, even though my immune system doesn't and I love how free travelling makes me.

I often rely on the weather forecast instead of just looking out the window so I'm often wearing inappropriate clothing or spend days feeling a little uncomfortable.

At university I study Law, Politics and Philosophy and sometimes I'm happy I do. I'm a strong advocate of social justice and it frightens me how often one can look at events of the past, present or the future and realise that we did nothing. It is not good enough. I think travelling is an essential way to open your mind up to what you can do.

I love music, I love making things whether it be art and crafts, food or clothes and I love good conversation. I love to have adventures and I love to do nothing and I love to see where the map takes me. I'd love to meet you.

I'm about to head off to meet my boy in India so we can travel around in a foreign country for the first time together. I can't wait.

PHILOSOPHY

That I never want the fact that we did nothing to stop me from realising that something still needs to be done. There are means to some ends that cannot be excused, and ends that can not be repeated. But I'd like to be really happy too.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new here, but I love to meet new people and learn from them or talk smack with them. I plan on doing that for a long time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None, as yet, officially through couchsurfing. But I have befriended and stayed with many new friends throughout my travels and I have been lucky enough for some of them to come all the way to NZ for me to return the favour.

Interests

Music, travel, clothes, crafts (not in a creepy scrapbooking kind of way), cooking, my kitten, politics, philosophy, cultures and food throughout the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too much music - the last ten songs played on my computer were by Pavement, Dizzee Rascal, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Animal Collective, Bob Dylan, Beirut, Modest Mouse, Mos Def, Fiery Furnaces and Jens Lekman.

I read a lot of non-fiction or fiction set in a factual historical background. Two of my favourite non-fictions would be 'An Imperfect Offering' by James Orbinski and 'Emergency Sex'. I just finished the fiction book 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' and loved it.

I like a lot of movies. Some are terrible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I get lost a lot in new places. That is when the best things happen but I don't know how much they would mean to you.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know how much I could teach anyone - I'm still learning a lot. But I guess I could maybe introduce you to some new ideas, some new music, some pictures of cats. I'd like to hear about your ideas, your music, your culture and see your pictures of cats.
