About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Mission? To be (and stay) happy . Etre (et rester) heureux.
ABOUT ME
That I inspire trust, am polite and that my English is hard to understand (but only by French people who are rubbish at English).
PHILOSOPHY
Philosophy?? I'm learning to be myself. That's enough of a challenge. Recent books that have made a big impact on me are those by Anthony de Mello "Awareness" and Eckhart Tolle "Le pouvoir du moment présent". They basically have the same message, although they explain it differently. True happiness is uncaused, all we ever have is the present moment, drop your ego.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted other couchsurfers as well as sometimes attending meetings and being available for a coffee/drink.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I hosted a quite a few people, have met other CSers socially, and have 'couchsurfed' in Toulouse. I have stayed in youth hostels in Holland, the US and in Scotland. I recommend this too, cheap and a good way of meeting like minded people.
Je commence juste à heberger des gens. J'ai resté dans plusiers auberges de jeunesse - ils sont pas cher et un bon moyen de rencontrer des gens sympas.
Interests
I like to draw and paint, and aim to make this a paying pursuit one day. My subjects ... anything with a human interest. I'm not really into landscapes or watercolours.
I like towns and cities, and the sea.
Also love to sing (been in a few groups, currently recording some songs), play the guitar and travel, of course.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Anything offbeat, normally european, not really into hollywood blockbusters.
Music: Anything guitar based, but not exclusively. Strong aversion to anything French.
Books: Eclectic mix of art books, psychology, novels, travel books. I often borrow them from the fantastic mediateque in Limoges. I've also been having a belated attempt at the 'classics', but I'm not averse to the odd thriller. Just finished "Payback" by Simon Kernick.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
(1) Driving at 2am at 100mph in an open top jeep in Texas with no seatbelts. Stupid but a real buzz.
(2) Singing in public for the first time
(3) Seeing my children growing up and constantly being amazed by the things they say and do.
