I'm a student at Colgate University in central New York state, studying English Literature, Studio Art, and Native American Studies. I'm currently living in central London studying non-fiction creative writing-- I promise I don't write about anyone without asking. I grew up in Maryland but lived with my family in Ankara, Turkey for a year as a kid. Other than that and going back to visit family in Turkey, this is my first time traveling outside the country. I've tried to do as much traveling as possible while I've been here-- Cardiff, Copenhagen, Barcelona, and Lisbon, as well as exploring London and the English countryside. And I'm still trying to do more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel is expensive. I want to travel as much as possible, but it's really expensive on my budget-- I'm not allowed to work while I'm here, so I'm not making money, just spending it! Outside of this main reason, I want to meet people while I travel who can give me a real experience other than just the touristy things. Especially people who have food suggestions. I've tried so many kinds of food I never thought I would like while traveling, and discovered that I love most of them.

Interests

l love reading, drawing, painting, printmaking, sewing, cooking, listening to music (and dancing if there's no one around), watching tv, yoga (I'm really bad though), wandering aimlessly around cities, eating, wine, and gin and tonics.

Music-- I can pretty much listen to and enjoy anything except country, I love anything that I can sing along to, I love folk and folk inspired music, currently I'm really into Trampled by Turtles

Movies-- Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, Airplane!, Nebraska, Annie Hall, The Graduate, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, a million other movies I'm too embarrassed to admit

Books-- I haven't had time to read much outside of my course books, but I'm an English major, so there are a lot: The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Desert Blood: The Juarez Murders, Shadows of Tender Fury, the poems of Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath, and The Lorax
