About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I just moved to JERUSALEM.... Let's see what happens next!
ABOUT ME
I don't "only" want to see new places but experience them.... I'm always curious what awaits me around the next corner of the city I live in or of a new place I'm just about to discover. I love meeting new people and exchanging ideas and generally I'm interested in the history of countries, cities, places but overall in people. This is one of the reasons why I studied History, Politics and Cultural Antropology. Through my studies I met people from all around the world and was amazed, stunned, amused and sometimes sad about the stories they were telling and by the things I learned through them. There is more about me than my studies of course (it is just what occupies most of my time at the moment...), as everyone has many different layers. So ask me again, when we meet and who knows what I might consider important to know about me at that time at that place in the future :)
PHILOSOPHY
Life is good and always getting even better!
Going where the wind blows me...
"Nur wer bereit zu Aufbruch ist und Reise,
mag lähmender Gewohnheit sich entraffen./
We must prepare for parting and leave-taking
Or else remain the slaves of permanence." (H. Hesse)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I already met many incredible people and new friends through CS, whom I would otherwise never had have the chance to meet! Besides, CS is amazing because I love getting to know new places better and very differently than only seeing the outside. But it is not only about seeing new places, it is also about getting to know diverse cultures, different people as well as about learning about oneself! To be continued...
Interests
I try to go running more or less regularly to clear my mind and I do Yoga every once in a while to relax. I used to do Aikido for years when I was a teenager and back than I also had a (foster) horse. The days in the forest on horesback: just the horse, some deer and me, are unforgettable memories! Eventually I stopped horesriding as well as Aikido but would love to do either of it again someday. And of course I love to travel and to discover new places; by myself or in nice company, both has it's very own value ;)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love to read and can't think of all the books which impressed me. Made me laugh and sad at the same time when I read it some summers ago: Foreskin Lament from Shalom Auslaender. Also loved Carlos Ruis Zafon: The Shadow of the Wind, which I read before and after visiting Barcelona. Besides I like all kind of books ranging from Lord of the Rings and The Name of the Wind to the detective stories of Jean-Claude Izzo taking place in Marceille to German books like Neue Var Süd by Sven Regner and Die 13 1/2 Leben des Käpt'n Blaubär by Walter Moers. Advices are very welcome, even if there are always some books waiting to be read ;)Movies (just to name few): Medianeras, Everything is Illuminated (makes me wanting to go to Odessa very much), Waltz with Bashir, The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain, Annie Hall, Moonlight Kingdom, Searching for Sugarman... I'm often listening to Folk, Balkan Beats and Ska music, but in general my choice of musik is rather eclectic, covering bands from all around the world and from different periods, like Johnny Cash, Queen, The Cardigans, Belle and Sebastian, Beirut, CocoRosie, Katzenjammer, Mumfort & Suns, Of Monsters and Men, Ska-P, The Detroit Cobras and Zaz. And some concerts I enjoyed very much were: Manu Chao, La Minor, Irie Révolté, Panteon Roccoco and Leonard Cohen!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Dolphins playing next to the ferry I took, from Inis Oirr to Doolin, on a sunny summer day. The Cliffs of Moher in the backround. "Just" beeing happy...
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to share everything I know about Hamburg, the city I grew up, and about (Jewish) cemeteries if it happens to be of any interest for you;)
I'd be happy to learn at least some basic words from the langue of the country I'm visiting.
Lately I started knitting and I'd love to meet people who could teach me how to knit socks before the next winter :D
Besides, I'm just learning the first tunes on my new Ukulele and any advise on how to "really" learn playing it is very welcome ;)
And last but not least I love to cook and cooking (as well as eating) together is best of all!
