Overview
About Me
I'm a very laid-back and down to earth person who is just trying to live simply. I'm extremely easy-going and am always open to trying new things and new places. I believe kindness and respect to all living things is crucial because the energy we put forth into the world is what we get back. I love immersing myself in new cultures and seeing how two seemingly completely different people realize how much they have in common when they come together because being mixed myself I know what it feels like to not fit in.
I do consider myself a nerd, I love science, math, reading and writing. My favorite things include sitting down with coffee and a book, randomly walking around and getting lost in a new place and listening to people talk about what excites them.
After coming back home from my trip I plan on dedicating all my time to studying and applying for medical school.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe that Couchsurfing is the most genuine way to travel and get to know a place. There is nothing like the experience and meeting people generous enough to open their homes to you. I've Couchsurfed across the US but nowhere else. This summer I'm headed to Europe to see some family that has been forced to flee their homes as refugees and I figured since I'd already be out there I might as well make a trip of it. I am extremely excited to immerse myself in different cultures and learn as much as possible while meeting wonderful people along the way. My friend will be joining me for a month, check out her profile :) https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/hillary-jones-3
Interests
I read A LOT, anything and everything, it's always been so easy for me to lose myself in reading.
I am extremely passionate about nature and animals. It is so important to show them kindness and treat them as we do humans because they were here before us and will be after us. We are invading their space and we need to respect them.
Music is extremely important to me, both what I listen to and what I play. I truly believe it saved my life when I was younger and it will always be extremely important to me.
I really like coffee, it's something I hate to go without for a day and I'm always up for trying the newest flavors or brewing techniques and wish I knew more about it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Generally I stick to alternative/punk and metal, occasionally you’ll catch me listening to classical or Spanish guitar. I'm not too picky.
Movies: I'm particularly fond of Disney, horror and romantic comedies.
Books: Where do I even begin? I love poetry, horror and Latin American literature. A few favorites are Stephen King, Clive Barker, Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Paulo Coelho, Pablo Neruda, Shakespeare and Charles Bukowski. I will give any book a try.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Quit my job, packed my car and road tripped across the country with nothing planned.
Stood next to a 12-foot alligator in the Everglades.
Had a capuchin monkey take my hand and proceed to climb up my arm in Costa Rica.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I play guitar, I can teach you the four major chords you need to play basically any song. Also, anyone looking to learn Spanish, I can teach you that as well!
Learn: I'm sure this will be easy to do! Everyone learns new thing every day without trying :)
Share: Let's talk about experiences we've had and our views on life. Where we feel we belong in the world, who we are and who we hope to be.
