COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been engaging in a sort of case study in the kindness of strangers, and bouncing from location to location for the last few months. As it turns out, people can be pretty incredible when given the chance...Back in the day of having an apartment in Montreal, however, I played the role of hostess for a good number of friends.

I spent the month of April couchsurfing in Italy. Hands down, the single best decision I've ever made.

Travel, inventing verbs, randomness (in all of its incarnations but the mathematical), culture shock, discovery, high pitched exclamations, cheap laughs, defying fearmongering travel books, walking with purpose, skype-ing, running til I fall over, exploring, compulsive emailing, market bargaining, morning swims, drinking chai, doing nice things, turning everything into a political metaphor, having crazy malaria pill induced dreams, solo apartment dance parties, avoiding reality, watching my screen saver, being a novelty, pushing the limits of good taste, walking the fine line between clever and stupid, taking that whole "do one thing everyday that scares you" thing way too seriously
