About Me

Hello!

First things first-- I'm fully vaccinated!

I'm a student and avid traveller who loves exploring new cultures and learning new languages! I started traveling with my family when I was 14 during a 3 month backpacking trip around the world. Now I have begun branching out on my own, with several shorter trips (Dominican Republic and China) and study abroad programs (Jordan and Japan).

I love trying new things and I like to participate in any opportunities that come my way! I'm very motivated academically, but I am pretty easygoing otherwise and always have a smile on my face.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In every place I've traveled, I can honestly say my favorite parts have been when I have gotten to know the people who live there. I love that CS gives me a chance to meet people, share experiences, and learn about a place from a local perspective, not just a guidebook! Although I don't have a couch to offer at the present, I hope to host someday in the future when I do. For now, I am interested in getting involved with events and the CS community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Recently been listening to a lot of Shakey Graves and Mumford & Sons. I love listening to new music, so shoot me a recommendation! Movie-wise, I have a fondness for documentaries (180° South and Meru are great ones) but I enjoy most all movies (except horror!) Some of my favorite books are A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, and Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card. It’s been a while since I had time to read anything but a textbook though!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming in the Dead Sea in Jordan! You really do float so much more! The water almost feels "slippery," but watch out- if you get it in your eyes it hurts like crazy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe there is a learning opportunity in every experience! I love learning about people in both their travels, as well as in their own lives. I’m happy to share the knowledge I have about being outdoors (can’t pitch a tent? I’ve got you covered!) and things I’ve learned while abroad (count to 10 in Japanese!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to participate in daily life with my host- whether that's helping with chores or whatever needs to be done!
