About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Journeying towards myself

ABOUT ME

Born and raised in San José, Costa Rica (dual citizenship for the win!). Musician. Music Therapist (MT-BC). Academician. Board and card game lover. Belly dancer. Massage therapist. Video game enthusiast. Anime fan. Communicative. Intellectual. Passionate. Feminist. Will go gaga for cute animals. Proud mama of two cats.

Ask me anything.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm up for trying most things twice.
Most, because there are definitely things I will never try.
Twice, in case the first time was bad by accident.

I do things that scare me until they don't scare me anymore.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm about to embark on the trip of a lifetime: my first time in Europe! 6 weeks of traveling, the first 4 of which I'll be alone- that is except for visiting friends here and there, and hopefully making new couchsurfing buddies :) I'll be going through Scotland, England, France, Andorra, and parts of Spain on my own. I'm so excited!!

We just moved to a new house in Frisco! It has a cute guest room that's ready to receive people.

If your trip happens to be taking you through Dallas, hit me up! December 2014 my best friend and I took a roadtrip in which I used Couchsurfing for the first time, and stayed in 3 different cities with great people. I wanted to give back, so we hosted our first couchsurfer as soon as we returned home. It was a great experience! Looking forward to meeting more travelers :) I have pictures with our surfers in My Couch album. Not all of them though. The last few I've forgotten to take pictures with :(! Dallas is a huge city, and I may not be close to exactly where you need to be. I love showing it off though, and there's a lot to do!

In other news, I have visited the following states, plus Washington, D.C: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia.

25 states/50% of the country. One day I want to see all of them!

Interests

Music, dance, food, world cultures, Judaism, social justice, feminism, art, vegetarianism, sci-fi, fantasy...

I am interested in people! I love telling and hearing stories. I won't accept "I'm not that special/I'm just a normal person" for an answer. Everyone has adventures and knowledge beyond my experiences. I consider myself a student of human nature, and love to find out what makes people tick.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I just became a board certified music therapist after finishing my music therapy internship in San Diego, CA :) Highlights included volunteering with the IRC to provide music therapy sessions to groups of teenage refugees; conducting a case study with a pilot program in an inpatient child and adolescent psych unit; and countless memories of providing music therapy at bedside in adult and children's hospitals.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love bartering! I like it better than money.

I would be more than happy to teach others about Spanish, vegetarian cooking, dance, massage, and music/ music therapy. I'm sure I can think of other things I may be able to teach if you ask me.

I always look forward to the opportunity to practice my French (I'm basically fluent, but would rather you speak to me slowly and sometimes I forget words- I keep a dictionary handy), and would welcome some help with Hebrew (which I speak at about the level of a toddler). Of course, I always need food and can work for a good meal.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Vegetarian meals
Massages
Translation services
Music
Spanish coaching
Dance instruction

If you want anything in exchange for a night in your town, I'd be happy to negotiate. :) yay trades!
