About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Carpe Diem! To meet new people by hosting and surfing - I want to see and experience the world while I'm young.

ABOUT ME

I am trying to live life to the fullest. I love to learn new things and see/experience different places. Caught the travel bug after driving cross country in the summer of 2010 and again after visiting Mexico twice in 2012.

I just got back from spending 11 days in Colombia(my first solo trip - first trip outside North America)where I got to experience my first surfing side of this website. I met up with 4 people via couchsurfing be it for coffee, beer, touring part of a city and crashing at one person's place in Bogota. Really looking forward to meeting more CSers and traveling on weekends for the duration of the year until my vacation resets and I can take another trip in January!!! :)

I can't wait to explore more of Latin America!!!

When I finish grad school, my goal is to get to Europe at least once, explore more of the United States including Alaska possibly over the next 5 years.

Looking to practice my spanish with all who are willing.
I love the outdoors, mountains and the coast - scuba certified.

I am an Eagle Scout and worked for 2 summers at Philmont Scout Ranch located in southern Rocky Mountains of New Mexico in the American Southwest.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life to the fullest, you only live once. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. I like to keep my options open. I believe in Karma, the golden rule, and you reap what you sew.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-June 2012 - saw the acrobat Nik Wallenda tightrope walk from the USA to Canada over top of Niagara Falls at night along with 120,000 others
-In 2008 I witnessed the Perseid meteor shower (one of the biggest ones of North America every August) from the vantage point of the Tooth of Time then watched the sunrise hours later...truly beautiful - Philmont, NM
-Hitchhiked from Big Sur to LA to see my brother in 2010. I've chased away 6 black bears by yelling and throwing rocks, and also witnessed a mountain lion stalking a doe and two fawns in the mountains.
-I've seen the sunrise and sunset at the Grand Canyon
-Gone skydiving through clouds opening up over top of Mountains and again over Lake Ontario seeing Toronto across Lake Ontario, Buffalo and Niagara falls in the same view
-Glacier, Grand Teton, Yosemite and Olympic National Parks
-Participated in the nations oldest Turkey Trot in Buffalo, NY
-Survived driving an ATV off a cliff in Oregon

Teach, Learn, Share

I've taught swim lessons, used to be a ranger at a park, done civil war living history/reenactment, worked for a professional sports team and helped with habitat for humanity. I have many fun stories.
